KIDS AGAIN

Everyone is getting ready. Most doorways to apartments are decorated for the big day. My entrance looks great with Amy's help. I mean she did it. I have had fun walking in the halls and looking at the different decorations. Many already have candy to offer. I must admit I have picked up some even tho I do not eat much of it. We are having the big croquet playoff the 31st and Burgers and Blues after the Croquet match. Big doings!!. Hamburgers with all trimmings, lemonade and byob ---and dessert. All on the Lakeview Terrace. Life is good. It is raining today and turning cool. Hope the weather is good for Halloween some will wear costumes I am sure--not me.

PERFECT

Leroy Percy State Park is the oldest state park in Mississippi. My first trip there. We saw baby deer and yes alligators in the lake where our cabins were located. Signs said DO NOT FEED ALLIGATORA. O. K. They stayed on the other side of the lake I am glad to report. It was perfect weather for a roaring fire which was attended by David and M. G. They did a great job. Food was as always plentyful and good. We hiked and talked and laughed and did us all good. Poor Tommy pulled a muscel in his leg but Jan propped him up and with pain he made the best bacon and pancakes well assited by Mary Grace. Everyone worked to make it great. It is a beautiful small park and very well kept. All are refreshed and ready to go back to work. Except me--I do not have to work anymore. How great is that?

CABIN CAMPING

Ten of us are going camping. Come on the rest of you. Wish you could. You know----camp fire, somemores {SP}. Lots of laughs, fun, and good food. I am sure it will renew us all just to get out and enjoy this beautiful outdoors. A gift from God that we often take for granted.

GEORGIA ON MY MIND

Having a "PITY PARTY' I guess that is what you call it. Any way God sent two angels to help. One in the hall let me pour out my feelings and understood. Another called with a bottle of wine. I whipped out wine glasses and crackers and LAUGHING COW CHEESE We enjoyed talking about her X husband and my sweet one.
could not get the cork of the opener out and she dared me to go next door and ask the man to unloose the cork. We both went and he got a kick out of us standing there needing his help. So the pitty party took on a fun time. She was so sweet to listen and I learned about her. Thank God for friends.

FALL ?

I guess I forget what Fall is like here. Hot today and cool tomorrow. I am looking for some change in the leaves and brisk winds to go with all the football. Now football is fall to me. Of course we only had radio but I can still hear games even though I would be outside the doors and windows were always open and people were all outside enjoying the change in the weather. Here in the HALLS we talk about just a little change. Something to say to people as you pass in the halls. This is still an amazing place to live. I wish so often that Truman could have enjoyed it with me but I know he would have been happy for me. He always told me not to stay in the house too long. I am glad I moved when I did. Practice is coming along well. It will be fun to be in a play and have LINES to say. Can you imagine ME? Linda and Joseph are spending the night with me--on the way to see Miss Karis. I would like to see her too. Whitney is so good to post pictures of her. I do not know how she has time but I love it.

BIG 60 NO WAY!!!!!!

Birthday dinner for Jan at Cary and David"s apartment. We celebrated her and what her life means to us all. She is loved by many. Looking forward to "cabin camping" soon. We will need a camp fire for sure. Things are going as usual around here. I am practicing for our play of wich I have a few lines to say. Another first for me. Who am I anyway? Sometime I do not even know myself. I guess that is good.

EGG-OLIVE SALADegg

A friend,Betty Rowland, surprized me with egg olive salad. packaged on ice at my door yesterday. I made a small tissue flower and attached it to a thank you note and left it at her door. I told her since she is a native Jacksonian too that for a while I was back at Brent's Drugs eating egg olive on whole wheat bread. She remembered it well and said her salad was made like Brent"s I thought hers was even better. Small acts of kindess take us through the days. I love to be around her because that is what she does every day. God bless the Betty's I have met here.
