SPELLING?

I doubt if anyone pays any attention to my blog. If by chance you do--I can"t spell. Now how do you spell ISAAC? I am sure it is not ISSAC but ISAAC. Right? O well I can still blame my lack of proper spelling to shorthand. A subject that was obsolete almost after I learned it. I never used it but like some of my learning I still remember it. So I will not worry about this too much since not many see my blog anyway. It can be pretty dull compared to what some write. Hey the sun is shinning--off and on. I am looking for Linda and Joe tonight. Joe will continue on down to Alexandria to visit his mother and pick Linda up on the way back. That will be good to see them both.

P. S. I had the Amy & M. G. CHANGE YOUR LINEN SERVICE yesterday as they popped in to put clean sheets on the daybed for my guest. How nice!!!!

ISSAC

O boy --Mississippi is getting it hard today and yesterday too. I just hope we keep power. I just got back from eating breakfast in the Cyber and learned we do not have a generator except for the Nursing part. The wind is taking down trees and falling on power lines. I think I will go do a little laundty.

BUSY MONDAY

I know I have said this before but it is still true. The time is going by fast. I like Mondays because they are full of things I like to do. Coffee Club (the gingerbread went over well]) exercise is always good. I told you we are getting ready for Christmas in Choir. The Latin is going better. A streach for me. Handels Mesiah is going to be hard too--but rewarding. Dinner with my friends and then a book to read. Sounds like I have heard this song before. But all in all ---a good day. O yes Irene came to Methodist Church Service with me too.

SUNDAY.

Church and lunch at Mr. Chen"s with this "fun loving group" Amy, M. G., Sophie, and Paul. I like the food. I try to fill Sunday up but it is the hardest day without Truman. It seems to not get much better that day. I guess it will always be that way and I musr cope.

BLUEBERRIES FOR DOT

I do like pancakes with bluberries. I had them this morning in the Cyber Cafe. Bettye and I have a thing going on Saturday. She even added an egg to her pancakes but then she did not have blueberries. I like breakfast out and I enjoyed it this morning. I hurried on after breakfast to WalMart. I needed to buy school supplies to take to
Church tomorrow. We give school supplies to Boyd School and Bethlehem Center each year. I like to give. The children there need all the help they can get. Did a little iorning and washed my hair. Did a little walking and that about does it for today. Linda is coming Labor Day weekend. We will enjoy having her for a few days. Joseph is going to to visit his Mom and pick Linda up on the way back.
got it all planned. That is about it for today.

FRIDAY NOON.

I just finished my lunch. Wanted to tell you about it. It is a beautiful day--sun shinning, and a breeze with a hint of Fall. Perfect for lunch on the balcony. Lunch was vieana sausage mashed with mayo. muatard and dill pickle relish to make a sandwich on whole grain bread (something healthy} a salad of pears and cottage cheese (again healthy}. Diet coke to top it off. As I ate Josh Groban was singing to me through the screen door. I thought "It does not get much better than this. Then again bittersweet to do it without T. Our lunches were always special. I fixed special salads all the time. He enjoyed it. I wish I could share some of the "quirkey" things we did==but can"t go there except only in my memories They are many.. I am feeling thoughtful today. Please excuse me?

DULL ?

Well not exactly dull but everyday stuff. Like laundry. O yes since my blood pressure and blood sugar was under controll--yes I had breakfast in the Cyber. I had a wonderful cheese and ham omlet and grits for a change. Darrell and Earlene always have breakfast there and they are good company. So that was my highlight. This was yesterday. Maybe today will be more exciting. Then I can not take too much excitement.

"ROARING 90"s PARTY

-"Now what"? I hasten to say, for those who live here and are 90 and over. Amazing how many there are. Two were 99. It was a grand party with great decorations, I decided to not get involved in that one,

great food. passed that up too, I even passed up the champane punch!!I am gaining too much weight. There was apporiate music and everyone who was 90 wore beautiful name tags and were dressed lovley. A few men scattered among the ladies, and happy smiles. It was a great crowd to celebrate a wonderful occasion. All in all--it was a good day. Thank you Lord for good days.

BUSY

Mondays are always busy. Nothing unusual happened. Exercise (my Cinnamon loaf was a big hit) Choir practice I guess was unusual. We started working on a piece that is in Latin. I never studied Latin. Is that the way you spell it? Latin? I think it is right. My computer says yes. Irene went to Methodist church service with me, I then went to dinner with three other "old girls" I like the cooler temps. Makes me think of school days. Out of that now.

MR CHEN"S

Sunday and just Amy and me at Church. That is alright, we had time to visit at Mr. Chen"s for lunch. and it was the best ever. Shrimp out of this world. I had a pot of tea too. M. G. joined us to pick up her lunch as she was working and had to go back a little later also. Crazy hours she has. Went to visit Irene and pick up her Sunday paper. I guess I am too cheap to have one delivered to me. I made cinnimon quick bread to take to coffee Monday. Sunday afternoon"s are especially lonesome even tho I try to pack the day with good things. Monday {today} will be busy and I am around different people at different times and that keeps me going. Sooooo here I go into the new week. I am blessed!!!!

ED"S BIRTHDAY

What a fun day. I started off with breakfast with Betty and Milissa. Two different kinds of people but I like them both. We had fun. Surprises me how much fun I am having. Jan, Tommy, Cary, Amy.and Ed had lunch with me. It is Ed"s birthday. A little short of people but we celebrated just the same. We are thankful for Ed. Another rain storm this afternoon. Thank you Lord for a safe place to live and that I do not have to worry about tree limbs falling on the house. One of Truman"s major worries. I am glad he worries no more. He often told me that if I were the one left alone to sell the house and not have the burden of it. He never doubted that he would be the first to go. Of course I held on to the idea that we would hold hands and go together. Not to be. Betty Boop

THURSDAY

Sort of a dull day--doing my laundry--But not altogether dull. Because M. G, and Amy had lunch with me and that is always a treat. Of course I woke early this morning to thunder storms and I am thankful I do not have to hang diapers anymore. I did not have a dryer all the time I had babies. O well it was fun just to get out of the house, even to go to the clothes line. I had a beautiful one. Nice medal poles and the cutest little clothespin bag that slid right along the wire. Wow!!. Also a neighbor who raced to beat me hanging out diapers. She had an edge on me because she hung hers two together--much faster. My line was longer than hers. I guess it was not a fair race. I am not sure if I just thought she was racing me. We never talked
about it. I talk about memories but was that one worth it.?

FASHION SHOW

Stein Mart puts on a fashion show one or two times a year here using models from our own St, Catherines residents. Even the men take part. Wine and Cheese are served and a good show of clothes and accesories are modeled. Hats , shoes, scarfs and jewelry and lots of dresses and tops amd pants. They do a nice job with it. I did not see anything I liked for me but I do shop there from time to time. I find my old clothes are fine for now. Do I really have to have all that animal print? Maybe just a touch. But wine at three in the afternoon? Is not for me. Cheese is o.k. I even passed that up.

ELLIS REUNION

I think it was the 87th Reunion. Only 25 were there. Used to be over 100. Sad, but a sign of the times I guess. I know it was sad to me. Of course many places I go without T. are sad to me. Always will be. The ones there, were good to see. Lots of good food and the tub of iced drinks that had to be opened with an opener was memories of days gone by. But Mike fixed them again. Remember how many you could drink? AND CLIMB ON THE PILE OF ROCKS that seemed so high then, Your memory bank is filling up. Make some more. Go on "old girl" make some new ones yourself.

NOT MUCH

Not much of importance has happened lately. Only 88 degrees today. That is new. I am looking forward to Fall. My favorite time of the year. Cool weather, different clothes (my summer clothes are looking kind of tired} and if I still had to deal with school in any way=It would be a relief!! I am glad to live where seasons change. Sometime change is good. Ellis Reunion tomorrow. I am going with Tommy and Jan. I would just as soon not go but T. loved it so much and he would want me to go. So Poppyseed Chicken --- here we come. Will talk on that subject later .

BIRTHDAY GIRL

We all had a good dinner at Jan and Tommy's house. Twelve of us. Lacking a few but we enjoyed it As you know it.does not take much to get together but this was special as we celebrated Cary's birthday. Paul's cake that he made Cary was so pretty and good too. He is getting to be a real "pro" at baking and decorating too. Well let me get going with this new week. I will deliver two birthday cards with tiny paper flowers attached. Seems my signature is paper flowers. People {I think} enjoy them. Such a small thing to do but it is fun. Then exercise. class. Must keep these old bones working. Then what else happens will be fun too.

Saturday

Breakfast in Cyber, No more pancakes unless they are made with wholewheat, too risky for blood sugar--so I had a cheese omelet Very good and the company with two "old girls" was great. We think alike.

I end this with a prayer:

" Give me strength to do, strength to love, and strength to live" Not my words but now my motto.

APPLESAUCE

Have you ever made applesauce? Try it- easy. I had bought granny-smith apples to use up my food card That is hard to do. I usually lose some-but it goes back into the food fund and not really lost. Anyway, I cooked them without the skin in water till I could mash them easy. Addded Splenda cinnamon and it is good. I eat it on oatmeal and ice cream (sugar-free of course} and it is good as - is. Exercise and dinner in the dinning room with the "girls". Reading two good books. WILDFLOWER HILL by Kimberly Freeman and MINDING FRANKIE by Maeve Binchy. Did you know she died last week? I like her books. Set in Ireland and England or Scotland. Wish I could go back to Ireland. I am getting my hair cut this morning. I must hurry on--------- Betty Boop

DEAD SEA SCROLLS

A Professor Boley from Milsaps College spoke to us on the dead sea scrolls. We have seen the museum in Jeruselem where they are housed. Of course many parts are in other places now and on exibit all over the world, I wish I could have heard him before we saw them. I would have appreciated seeing them more then. He was a good teacher. You really have to have a passion to do the work he did. We saw the cave where the first scrolls were found. Many were found in as many as 10 or more caves since the first was found in I think he said 1947, I enjoyed it. My it is hot here--I think I will stay indoors till at least September.
