YEAR END

Last day of 2012.  And I have just gotten used to writing 2012--now here comes 2013.  A lot happen this year.  Why do we always say that.  Of course a lot happened.  Day by day.  Then why do we say better next year?  I guess we are human and can go just so far with our thinking. Some more than others.  Sometime I think why worry?  What will happen ---will.  Truman used to laugh at the Book of Ecclesiastes.  He would say he felt that way sometime.Reread it sometime and tell me how it made you feel.  Then after that read the love poems from The Song of Solomon.  It comes right after Ecclesiastes in my Bible.  Then you will feel better.  You can find everything you need for life in the Bible.

Well it is obvious I feel better.

STILL SICK

I am not used to this.  Of course I deal with all these chronic ailments-blood sugar, high blood pressure. glaucoma, keeping my weight down, but I am used to those things and they are a part of everyday life.  But this "cold" has got me down.  I called the nurse here yesterday when my temp went up and she came and checked me out.  I was clear in my chest but so sore that it worried me.  I have coughed so much.  Anyway she prescribed some meds and I am still on the sick list.  Takes time I guess.Amy picked up at CVS for me.  I would not let her close.  Sophia went to Dr too,  Ivy is still sick. Ryan is sick too.  We are a motley crew.  Jan was xick too.  Tommy beat it-he can"t be sick now,

WORSE

I feel worse today than yesterday.  It is the 4th day--is that the turning point?  I hope so.  I had the flu shot and I have no fever but I hurt all over.  I need Truman to say "Betty Bones"  and to pet me a little.  Excuse me for dumping on you.---who else can I tell my troubles to?    I did enjoy all of Christmas.  It was so good.  Think pleasant thoughts and forget the bad.  Right?

O MY!!!!!!!

The dreaded "Crud" hasaught up with me.  I started feeling it Wednesday and by morning it caught me.  I have stayed in my apartmentt for three days counting today.  I did steal out late {8:00{ last night to get my mail and two new books at the library.  I did not think I would run into anybody but I did see one lady and warned her to pass me quick on the other side of the hallway/  She obliged willingly--nobody needs to get sick when you are in the 80's.  I haven't been sick in a long while.  I had chicken soup and jello.  My old remedy.  I guess I am better this morning, at least different.  So the cycle is moving right along and I hope I do not get sidetracked with something else.  It is supposed to rain today and since I have to stay in--let it rain.  I did want to go to my  favorite place to shop.  Dillards.  They have a good petite department and mid=priced brands that are good.  O well, I have my books and The Ellen Show, Rachel Ray and my favorite Dr. Oz to keep me company.

TOO BUSY TO WRITE

You all will laugh to know what I call "too busy"  I just can't do as much as I us too.    I wonder why?  But I remember long ago and far away--being so busy that after Christmas I would always get sick and go to my Dr. and he would give me a shot of something--don't know what--but I would sleep for a while and rest.  I wonder what it was?     Linda and Joe are on the way and Whitney and family will be here too.  Ashley and Bryan also.  It will all be different but good. The goodies keep coming in and I really am enjoying a taste of it all,  Merry Christmas and Christmas Gift to you all

ANTHROPOLOGIE

Amy took me shopping yesterday.  I like ANTHROPOLOGIE.  I got it all done fast because I saw something I liked right away.  I do not do a lot--not like I used to.  But what I did I enjoyed.  People here where I live are leaving little packages and bags of "goodies" most of which I only sample because they are too sweet.  I got a a small bag of seasoned oyster crackers{you know the kind) and they are so good and fine for me to eat.  People who can't give it all up are doing some very fancy baking.  I continue to get thanks for my little happies.  Most people thank me for my time in making them.  It is a time for giving, but just as important to be a good receiver.

Thanks be to God

STILL SINGING

Our Christmas program was so wonderful  My mind would not go to sleep-wanted to keep singing.  Finally got to sleep and slept till 7:00 and decided to treat myself to breakfast in the Cyber.  Coming out I met this lady I call "Sunshine".  She is smiling {laughing} all the time.  "Hello Sunshine" I said.  "Hello Miss Wonderful", she replied.  Now that was a good start to the day.  Every one is thanking me for my little "happies"  I think I enjoyed that more than they did.  These people are so generous.  Do you have to get this far in life to see that happen.  Of course not.  That can happen at any stage.  Jan. Tommy. Amy. Mary Grace and current friend boy came.  M. G. brought me flowers.  How sweet.  I guess I taught her well,  I used to take her flowers at her performances too.  How proud I am of all my family.

Have a good day,  Betty Boop
P,S,  I delivered 55 happies to my St Catherine friends  and could have done more, but ran out of supplies.  Did not realize I know so many people

WEEKEND

We had a big rain Saturday night and Sunday.  Did not keep us from Church.  This Christmas season

has been hard.  I am trying,  It is not about me.  I must remember that.  I have seen so many good programs and have enjoyed them all.  Tonight my choir sings here.  It will be good.  We have worked hard and hope we make a difference.  I think some of my family will be here.  I have been delivering my little "happies" I made.  I have over 50 made.  I did not realize I want to touch so many friends.  This is a friendly place. I am happy to be here.

BLUEBERRIES FOR LITTLE DOT

Pancakes in the Cyber were so good.  Darrell and wife Earlene are always good company. They got my day off right.  Did you know that simmering meat sauce can splatter?  I just spent 15 minutes cleaning up.  I took the top off and before I could turn it down (just a few seconds) it went every place you could imagine>  When you come next time to see me I am sure you can fine some still there in places I missed.  I guess the cooking bug has hit.  I made Navy Bean soup the other day.  And  I held back on the Black bean soup.  I still have veg soup in the freezer.  You would think I was preparing for a blizzard.  Actually it is 70 degrees today and lots of rain predicted for tomorrow--bringing in a cold front.
Excuse me--I think I will go have a bowl of soup.  Care to join me?

THE MALL

Did I tell you about this?  I don"t think I did.  I was having lunch in the Food Court on Tuesday.  It was unusually full.  A lot of students.  So much noise and all a sudden they jumped up, some on the chairs and started to sing.  All around us was voices.  What a thrill.  I had seen something like that on the Internet news but I did not expect to hear and see it here. It is great to see a good thing like this.

TOP-O-DOM

/The party the Sisters have for us is so nice.  It takes 3 shifts of trips on the bus for all to go.  They had the Sisters that work here there and Sister Dorthea and the head of St. Dominics  and wife and they all saw to it that we enjoyed the wonderful food and decorations.  Jackson looks like a big city from the 14th floor.  So very pretty.
This morning as I ate breakfast in my room --the clouds were navy blue at 6;30.  I study the clouds a lot.  All of a sudden, a break in the clouds was a beautiful light blue spot with a bright pink spot in the corner.  I burst out crying and could hardly stop.  I felt it was Truman's presence looking at me.  I am not crazy --or am I?  As I wrote in one of my stories  "I see you looking down.  You seem to say. 'Don't frown'  White cloud-blue peeking thru.  I smile.  What else can I do?"

WHAT IS THAT SOUND?

Monday's are so busy for me.  But to top it off last night {we call 6:45} night, anyway we heard Colonial Heights Baptist Church's hand bell choir play.  It was the best one I have ever heard.  I have heard a lot of them over the years.  Such talent and practice must go into it.  People from all walks of life.  Even the Mayor of Ridgeland.  I am taking advantage of all the programs I can.  I am getting close to the "spirit".  I am going to our famous TOP-O-DOM tonight.  I think I have told you about the Dominican sisters have this huge party at the too of St Dominiics. I went last year and it is very nice.  To see all Of Jackson from the 14th floor is really pretty.  Food and hot chocolate.!!A tradition.    Another concert tomorrow and Open House here the next day.  Many other things to come.  I am so lucky!! All for free.  Well I do pay well to live here.  Thank you my sweet mate.  Well I must get on with it.

MONDAY --- RAIN

Somehow, rain and Monday's go together.  For some reason, I had an image of about second grade and rain.  I don't know if it was Monday but I remember the damp, dark room and me always the smallest.  I had bricks under my feet for a footstool because my feet would not reach the floor.  Also came to my mind, veggie soup and going down the hall to have lunch in the cafeteria, which was in the basement.  Little narrow steep set of stairs.  Ice cream in a Dixie Cup was a treat.  Funny how long ago images of no significance come back to you.  I am sure you all have them too.

ONE REASON OR ANOTHER

It seems that everyone put off some not so important things to do till "AFTER THE WEDDING"  Now is the time to catch up with all those things we put off for later. Amy and I saw the William Hollingsworth art exhibit Friday.  Outstanding!!We also enjoyed lunch with Sophie at the museum.  I dodged the illness that caught so many off guard during the weekend.  But some did not.  I hope we are all O.K. now.  Time does go on and preparations are going fast here.  Many, Many, good programs are going on and I am still trying to "get the spirit".  Not yet--but I will.

TEAR JERKER

Somebody digs out this Folgers coffee commercial every Christmas of the young man coming home and younger sister opens the door early one morning for him--they of course make Folgers coffee before mom and dad know he is there.  That breaks me up and I cry every time.  So sweet. Maybe I am just ready for a good cry. and believe me I will--soon.  Christmas is a sad season to me and yet I must not think of it that way, because it is not all about "me".  I wish I could stop thinking of me first.  I really try but sometime I get overcome and feel sorry for myself.  I really do have very little reason to have these feelings but I do and I will deal with them.  I am making cute little "happies" for my friends here at St. Catherine"s.  Not much but they say I care.  I have been putting silver bells at my doorway for walkers.  I can"t eat them but somebody sure can. What fun.  We are having a number of nice events here for Christmas.  Something for everyone.  I'll keep busy.

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

My entrance is decorated with old favorites.  Mostly angels.  I did not realize I had this many.  One table is reserved for the "Old Santa"  Remember him?  He has a price sticker on his feet of $1.25.  He came from the 10 cent store that used to be in Fondren named MORGAN & LINDSAY.  Jan Linda and Amy remember it maybe.  They were small when we used to go to it.  Then MEADOWBROOK shopping center was built, closer to our home.  Anyway, I decorated my tree.  Sorry it is not real and is verrrrry small.  I loved unpacking the old ornaments.  I guess I live in the past too much--it is a comfortable  place to be.Amy is coming to help adorne the balcony with lights and greenery {fake again}.  O well, It will look good anyway.  Better tomorrow.

AND THE SUN DID SHINE

I don't know if the old saying is true about the sun shinning on a bride to make her happy or not--but our bride could not have been happier .  The sun did shine on a most beautiful day.  The wedding and all the parties were outstanding.  Everyone had a wonderful time.  I sorry for the illness that kept some away. Amy's touch was everywhere.  She had a wonderful time helping with everything.  Paul's family are such nice people and we all love Paul.  Well what will we all do next?  O yes, Christmas is coming----fast.  Another chance to see all my family together.  Thanks to Truman, he wanted his family to be close and to love one another.  He got his wish and we will all say "thanks".
Well, on to Monday, much is happening here too.
