HAPPY DAY

Always happy to spend time with one of my girls.  Today it was Amy.  We were ready to garden and chose plants.  Moore's was a little picked over, however Amy found some and I found one.  So we went to Lowes.  But because we were both hungry and we were passing City Grill we stopped there.  Right at lunch time and we  had to wait but it was worth it.  We both got veggie plates and it was Devin!!!!My first trip there and wont be the last.  On to Lowes' and I found plenty I wanted and Amy added a few things to her stash.  I was wiped out and even tho it was 2:30 I fell on the bed and went to sleep for 30 minutes.  I have been on the balcony planning my next move.  Just planning--because planting comes tomorrow.  I bought two tomato plants.  Patio kind.  Hope they do well.  Anyway, it will be fun tomorrow.

Must also get ready for our camping trip to Cossar State Park starting Friday.  Lot to do.  That is the way to stay on track.

This and That

I am so glad we are all safe from last nights storm.  Another round tonight.  I hope it wont be as bad.  I am really thinking about all the people who have lost so much.  I can't imagine how that would be.

Here is what happened today so far.  Shampoo (I do it myself you know). then a little laundry (do that myself too).  They were having a big hamburger bash in the activity center today.  I did not go mainly because I should not eat everything they were having.  It was supposed to be with a fishing with a biscuit sausage breakfast .Then hamburger lunch for the spectators.  Called off because of threatening weather for this morning.  Which by the way did not happen.  O well the sausage and biscuits sounded good.  Maybe another time.  Of course I mean the sausage and biscuit--not the fishing.  Made myself a salad out of what I had on hand -- it can be done.  I even put thawed green peas in it.  Real good to have a little green veggie.  Nap and then to WalMart for sundries and such.  Back now and what can I do?  Sun is still shinning but we are warned we may have another storm tonight.  The rest of the week looks great.  Am glad since we plan on camping.  The storm knocked out any programing last night so I missed DANCING WITH THE STARS.  They are going to show it again at 12 o'clock.tonight.   I wont watch altho I am awake sometime around that time.  I already found out  the results of last night and I agreed with the judges.  They really need me.

JUST TOO MUCH

My days seem to be sooooo full lately.  I started off with breakfast in the Cyber, trying to use up my food allowance  Next hair cut and hurry home to color it and then to dinner in the Magnolia room with friends,  That is a special dinning room where everything is ala carte   Cooked to order and supposed to be like fine dinning.  So much for that.  Not worth the money which was a lot more than the regular dinning room prices.  Oh well I had the money to spend.  Why not.  Almost everyone else brought wine but our table did not.
Big day for me.  Since I still go to Jackson to get my hair cut and my operator was running 30 minutes late, I felt  like Amy trying to fit so much in.  Oh well I do have a short dark haircut.  Think it will last?.  No I will have to do it all over soon.  I have to really work hard to keep up. with all these many things I have to do to look decent. .  I am lucky to still be able to do for myself as much as I do.

Another good day

I seem to be having a good streak of fun.  Went to the Cedars yesterday with M. G, and Amy to see a new collection of Eudora Welty's photograph.  Well  by new I mean never seen buy the public before.  She was an amazing photographer.  Then on to the Walker's Drive Inn. for lunch outside and amazed by the activity in Fondren.  Paul called it Fondren's Manhattan.  Cars and people everywhere.  Lunch with Paul, Sophie, Amy and M. G.  Pretty big day for me.  Tired but happy.

MONDAY'S CAN BE GOOD.

Beautiful day.  I think spring is here and summer right behind it. Isn't that the way it goes.  I am planning on planting a cherry tomato plant on the balcony.  I am also planning to not get too many flowers going.  They are a lot of work.  But when you go to this nursery that Amy and I go to====there are so many ones that I loose my head and get too much.  I just love flowers.  I did not know it at the time but I guess I got my love of them from my Mama.  She could grow such pretty ones.  Daddy always laughed and said the weeds ducked their heads and would hide when they saw her coming.  Of course he always had a garden anywhere we lived as long as he was able.  He grew all kinds of veggies and she would can them and always had "provisions.  Truman did that too on Meadowridge  and we would can lots of beans tomatoes and peas.  Days before freezing was popular.  We would  have so much fun doing this together, He always said work is work and fun is fun  but we put it together those times.

Amy and M. G. ate lunch with me.  Love those girls.  We looked at the mother duck and her dozen eggs.  She is like old Horton the Elephant.  She is faithful 100%.  Of course she is---she is a mother!!

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE.

We  had a very moving service.  It is called Tenebrae--a Latin word for "shadows" or "darkness.  It marks the journey to Golgotha,  I think it was 12 people who read the scripture of a dramatic narrative account in the Bible of the betrayal. arrest and crucifixion   It was done so well  The room was darkened somewhat.  Each person who read put out a candle at the end and Rob put out the last as a LOUD cymbal rang out to single the end.  Chuck sang WERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD" to close.  It was moving to say the least.  I am glad I was there.

Now we celebrate. on Easter morning.  We will have a big crowd at Jan's house with everyone bring good food and we will enjoy each other's company.  I wish everyone could be there but there is still Gulf Shores for that.

P.S.  Sophie and Amy were both a scripture reader.  They did GREAT!!I am proud of them and I know someone who would be super proud.  Hope he was watching.---------

EASTER SERVICES

It is not all about new outfits, egg hunts, candy and great food.  Although these things represent new life and that is the message of Easter.  To build up to this we Methodist have services leading up to Easter morning and day Last night I attended the Maundy Thursday service at Broadmeadow.  Maundy comes from the Latin word  mandatum meaning "commandment." the new commandment that Jesus gave us to "love one another" so that people would know that we are his disciple.

Very impressive when at the end the church is darkened and the church is stripped in a vivid and dramatic tradition  One by one everything is takes away, representing the times when we have turned away and abandoned Jesus.  Very impressive and gives you plenty to think about.  Of course tonight we have Good Friday service.  I will tell you what we do at that service later.

EXCITING DAY

I am sorry to sound this way, but I get such a satisfaction and thrill out of performing on that little SCV stage.  And to have some family and friends to come is just "icing  on the cake".  People said it was the best choir performance we ever did.  Of course the Easter music is beautiful.  Some I did not know before.  Amy and Candy came and I was so pleased.

I had an old time favorite for breakfast.  Pig-in-a-poke.  It turned out so beautiful.  Wish I could send a picture.  Knowing how to do that would be just to hard for me.  Kind of like learning Latin (which I really stumbled through).    I am going to the Dermatologist this morning.  A routine check.  Then to buy stuff for chicken tetrazzini ,  My offering for Easter dinner.  Wish me luck.

MOTHER DUCK

Everyone is so excited.!!  Mother duck has made her nest.  Not the best choice of places.  Next to the Chapel (which has no overhang)  and by the Rose garden for all of us to watch.  People say she is not shy and will allow you to see her nest that has twelve (12) eggs.  We had a storm last night and over two inches of rain.  She and the nest got soaked.  Someone said after all they are ducks.  Funny?  No they are still babies.  Maybe the rain will be gone when they hatch.  I promised someone I would look it up as to how long we must wait for hatching.  The book  MAKE WAY FOR DUCKLINGS came to mind.  I loved those books.  They are Mallards and should be pretty  marching all the way around the building to the Lake   We could be on the map if we could train them to march to the fountain in the Rose Garden. ( Sophie's suggestion.) Put us on the map!! Data for a poem.  How silly.  I know people are tired of my silly poems.  But they keep cropping up.

A BURST of SPRING

Our local weather man keeps saying wait till after Easter to plan as a cold front will happen at Easter.  I think he may be right.  It is hard to wait to plant my balcony but I will be patient and wait.  My neighbor, Sue, who is so good with flowers, has the most beautiful petunias going.

I have had a busy day.  Since I had not been to the grocery store in a while, I went to Kroger this morning.  Left my list at home.  So I went up and down every isle trying to remember it all.  Kroger is a very large store.  I was very, very tired and hungry when I finally got finished.  I sat in the parking lot and ate a Quaker bar.  Approved for diabetics.  I hurried home and brought one load up.  My cart is small and I had a few big items.  I stopped and ate my lunch and then brought another load up and then took a nap.  There are  still a few paper items in the trunk.  So be it==they can wait.  I did an interview with a new resident who happens to be a classmate from high school-class of '44.  We both enjoyed a nice visit.  Came back and made a flower for a birthday card and then delivered it.  Picked up supper and now I am finished with eating and ready to sit down and relax.  I just hope all that coffee I drank  at my classmates apartment does not keep me awake.  If it does well then I can blame waking up several time a night on the coffee.  Now how do you like A Day In The Life of Betty Boop?

DUCKY LOVE True story written and embellished by Dot

DUCKY LOVE

The clouds were white, blue sky above
While strolling around the Lake on day,
A pair of beautiful ducks--in Love.
But trouble was on the way.

Another duck stood watching from behind a tree.
As they strolled by he followed them.
He quacked to her, "Hey look at me."
But his prospects suddenly became dim.

Because duck number one quacked so bold.
"It is I who won the Gold!"

GO JUMP IN THE LAKE!!!!

For it is of you we must get rid.
And that is just what he did.

DULL SATURDAY

I am sorry, I should not say that. The highlight was pancakes with strawberries was great.  But shampoo, and a little ironing can be dull.  You know what. just walking down the halls and people saying "how are you today?" can be a good thing.  The GI virus is going around and we are really warned to be careful..  Some have really been sick.  It is still going around and believe me I am being as careful as I can.  Don't need that stuff.  I made myself some tuna fish salad and along with a baked sweet potato and green beans, I had a nice supper.  I am going to finish a book and start on another one later.  So it goes. " Thoughts create emotions"--think I will cut off these thoughts..

LOVE or HATE?

My computer has been "out sick" for almost three days.  Dr. Amy looked in on it and could not understand it.  We both did all we could and was ready to call in a second opinion  when I tried it one more time and to my surprise it said, your ID and pass word has been accepted.  I don't know why?  It was the same all along.  While I hated it's behavior, I love that it decided to get well.  I missed it.  I was about to decide to chuck it all in the Lake.  It is sort of company for me when I can sit down anytime I want  and communicate with my family and find an answer to any  question.  Even check the day and time.  Almost human.  So I guess I will keep it.

TESTING

Something is wrong with my computer.  I can't send or receive e=mail.  I don't know if my blog is going through yet.  Amy tried and I have tried but can't figure our what is wrong. Guess we will have to bring in  the "big guns"  whoever they are.  Do you know.  Let me hear if this comes through by leaving a comment.
