SATURDAY Already??

This week went by fast.  Can't say much about it that was very exciting, but it went by smooth.

I had a good day to finish the week,  My middle daughter and I after helping me through a few little pending things, went to lunch at TRACE GRILL.  We declared we needed a bunch of veggies cooked Southern style.  That is the place to go.  With our plates loaded with fried okra, cabbage, slaw, blackeyed peas, turnip greens and mack & cheese (for Jan). cornbread and iced tea (unsweet).  We dug in and I could not eat it all.  I will have to tell you that Jan did clean her plate.  I think it is a good place to go for real food.  We had a very good visit and I enjoyed it so much.  Seems like I do better one on one these days.  Crowds intimidate me and I close in.

I am still getting feedback from my peaches gifts.  I wish I had brought two basket home instead of just one.  The season is so short.  Next we went to Freshway market on Old Canton road.  Bought okra, yellow squash, and tomatoes.  My that place was busy.  Then we went to Goodwill where I dropped of a bag of stuff.  I am glad to get rid of it.  I kept creeping back and digging out old friends and wearing them one more time.  We went into the shopping part,  I have never done that before.  I was shopping for a new hat to wear in the up coming play.  They said there that hats go fast and did not have much of a selection for what I needed.  Now they had the baseball hats coming out the door.  So if you need one--place to go.  Also T shirts.

All in all it was a good day.  I finished it off with a lovely fresh tomato and turkey bacon on whole wheat bread sandwich and what else a Chilton County Alabama peach.-------Life is good.

WHO ARE YOU?

There is a man here who has a sister and now a brother here.  Sort of all in the family thing.  His name is Billy but I can not for the life of me remember her name.  I met her in the hall today and we both smiled friendly.

Me:  I am so sorry I can't remember your name.

Her:  I can't remember yours either,

Me:  I guess that makes us even.

Now you would think that would do it for me, but I still can't remember her name.  I wonder if she remembers mine.  Only time will tell.  Silly story but nothing of interest happened today.

THIS--THAT--and the OTHER

There was a little country restaurant in Morton that we ate at several times.  It was near Roosevelt State Park where we camped many times.  It was so good.  Just plain old country cooking.  So I did this that and the other today, not the restaurant but so many little things that you would not like to hear most of it.  One thing was a birthday party in Siena for residents who had a birthday in June.  Irene was one of them, so I was invited.  It was so nice.  They also talked about weddings, so many are in June.  Irene got to tell about her wedding and I was so proud of her.  I had to hurry away because  they were having a reception for the new Bishop of the Catholic church in Jackson.  Our Choir sang and I had to be a part of that, don't you know.  We did good.  Morning was full of this, that and the other and now I an caught up and ready to rest. I have given all but two of my peaches and people are raving over them.  I think I will have to save the remaining two for ME.  Is that selfish?  Yes but I like them too.  I could have shared more but that is all she wrote.

I did not win the duck poem contest.  I am glad.  I get too much attention in that department anyway.  I did win a little rubber duck for entering.  O well.  I am tired of ducks now.

I think I will have black bean soup and a fruit plate for supper.  Sound good?  I think so.

BACK IN THE ROUTINE

What does a vacation do for you ?  Does it slow you down?  Take you to another place?  And makes your mind rest?  All of the above.  I just can't come back.  I am still looking and listening to the ocean, wondering what's good for dinner, taking a nap. observing everyone up close, I just am still THERE.  But hey! I found out I was missed.  That is a good thing.  I also found out I had a lot of dirty clothes to laundry.  My tomato plants--you remember LADY Catherine and  her balcony mate DEXTER?  (who names tomato plants?)  I must write a poem about them.  Lady Catherine produced 5 little tomatoes.  My neighbor who was caring for my plants, saved them for me.  I ate them yesterday and they were so good.  Now I will have to talk to Dexter.  He has little tomatoes but none ripe yet.  They say boys are slower to develop than girls.  Also my okra is getting ready to bloom.  Now if I just had an onion-----

How silly can I be?  Very I guess.  I have been surprising neighbors and friends with a peach at their doors.  What fun.  I brought a basket back with me and they are very good.     I am glad we had such beautiful weather at the Beach.  It has rained since we got back every day.  I put a picture of our group down stairs on the Bragging Rights space.  Now I will wait for the oooh's and ahhh's.  Always something to look forward to.

GULF SHORES

With good food, (notice that is mentioned first) fabulous  weather, and beautiful people out for a great vacation.  These ingredients make for a very successful vacation.  Not just a vacation but much much more.  What a lot of space we had!!  I think that added to keeping us happy.  Lots of planning too, makes it all a success.  But   the love and concern of all really is the secret.
I could go on and on and usually do, but it was all so wonderful.  Good to be home and see my friends.  I just wish I could make them understand what a WONDERFUL FAMILY I HAVE.  Everyone was so sweet and thoughtful to me.  I am blessed.

LUNCHEON

I expect everyone is busy getting ready to leave tomorrow for  the beach.  I will just say the Shabby or Chic luncheon was lots of fun.  Most people took part and either dressed up or down.  Beautiful tablescapes done by residents. The table where I sat even had china and real napkins.  Food was buffet style and so very good.  Beautiful music was played while we ate and then Shirley sang and a few other little readings and so on --it was all in all very nice.  But now I am about packed up and ready to leave in the morning with Jan and Brody and Cary.  Wish us luck.  I bet Brody will be so good and enjoy the ride.  See you there.

ANOTHER BLESSING

I do hope I deserve what I receive, for I do have a lot to be thankful for.  First in spite of rain my sweet daughter, Amy, picked me up and we went to the Belhaven Building where many Doctors have relocated.  The parking garage is still so new to us and we get turned around.  At least I do.  My doctor, Newman, the glaucoma  specialist was very pleased with me.  He said you are holding your own--no change.  Music to my ears.  I have dealt with this for many years (you should see my records) Many surgeries and treatments later I can still see 20=30 he said.  Thank you Lord for good Doctors and treatments.  We were energized and went to North Park Mall.  I needed makeup.  Celebrated at Chick Fillet,  Then home to nap.  That's about it so far.  I am tired from it all.  But happy.  My bags are half packed.  It takes as much stuff for me as it would a baby.  Things I must have to survive.  I have to make list and check them twice.  Am looking forward to seeing everybody.

SUNDAY

I was told when I had breakfast that we had a big storm last night.  I must have been half dead because I heard nothing!!
Nor like me at all.  Oh guess what I feel rich.  I found a bag of shorts that I thought I had given to the Goodwill.  Old as they are they are going to the Beach with me, so look the other way if you think I look shabby.  I was very pleased because I do not wear shorts here, I hated to buy new ones.  A vvvvvverry few ladies wear shorts here.  And they are younger and in better shape than us "oldies."  For we have seen better days.

I started the week off right.  Scrambled egg, sausage, toasted biscuit and coffee.  All by myself.  I am pretty good company after all.  My usual partners were not there.  Appointments or something
.
Well church was not too bad yesterday.  Rob managed to give his last sermon without not too much emotion.  Though, I shed a few, I wish him well and hope for the best for our new minister.  I guess it was because we lost Truman during his stay. and he was so good with all of us, Rob meant so much to me.

Hi Ho Hi Ho
It's off to exercise class I go.
Hope I don't stump my toe

SAME OLD SAME OLD.

Nothing to tell so I will just say.  I need to get out of town.  So you know a place I can go?  I need a beautiful location:  lovely sunshine but not too hot, a good clean bed, good food. (heavy on the seafood} restful sleep , beautiful people that think I am wonderful.  Know a place like that?  LET ME KNOW RIGHT AWAY.

LADY CATHERINE AND DEXTER

Who are these celebrities?  You may have forgotten I named my tomato plants?  Yes they are thriving.  Amy and I topped (cut the top out of) Lady Catherine yesterday.  A real gardener I am not but she was just too tall and willowy.  She has a lot of little baby tomatoes clinging to her but we closed our eyes and did the deed anyway.  Hope for the best.  She looks O. K. this morning.  Meanwhile Dexter is bearing tiny tomatoes too.  Wait can Dexter be a girl too.  I bet they will start to ripen while I am gone to Beach Week.

Amy came to lunch and brought flowers left from Sophie's big party for Rob.  I think I should leave that one to the young ones and attend the luncheon at Church on Sunday.  Amy can do so many things in a short time.  She is so good at getting things done for me.  My entrance needed something else after I put Beach stuff on display.  She hung my beach picture of Truman.  Whitney gave it to me long ago.  Hi is walking down the beach with those sexy legs and cocky hat in the pictures.  O my he loved Beach Week with his family.  Wonder what he would think of us now.?  Hope he would be proud.  I also put last years Beach Week picture out there.  It looks good.  I should have Amy make a picture.  Everyone  here that I know--knows we are going.

Well I must get busy and go to exercise class and what else  we will see.

BUSY MONDAY

I know my little spot seems uneventful, but to me it is a lot to handle.  I am so thankful for work to do--and strength to do it.
Big Resident Ass. meeting Monday.  Well attended.  I think everyone thought we would talk about security.  Seems that will be a later discussion.  They only touched on it lightly.  I know there is a reason for that.  Villager meeting was good and  our theme is the 4th of July.I now have to write on Independence Day.  They all expect poems from me--I wonder why?  I came up and belted out a poem on the new water dispenser in the lobby.  It is so nice with crushed ice and lightly laced with lemon.  Such a good addition to help us drink more water this summer.  I was impressed and expressed it in a poem.   Now the 4th of July is harder.  I am still chasing ideas in my head.  I must get it done before Beach Week because the deadline is while we are away.  Wish me luck.

DON"T FORGET TO VOTE TODAY!!!!!
