STILL DRAGING

I honestly hate to feel under par.  Maybe I need to get used to it because it may be the way it will be.  I am being tested I know.  Feeling a little  shaky and  afraid to drive is for the birds.  Maybe I am too anxious and am not giving the  new Meds time but I don't like it.  I know I have been depending on others to do a lot for me already but I need to hold on to some independence.  I go to my Dr,next week for my annual checkup and maybe we can iron out a few things.

Had lunch with three ladies just now and we enjoyed steak.  It was very good.  I am going to the New Year's lunch tomorrow.  I hope we have some black eyed peas for good luck.  Maybe a little green cabbage for money.  There is a New Year's Eve party tonight.  I say "tonight."  It is from 6:30 till 8:00.  Got to get to bed on time.  Truman and I used to go to bed and watch New York time (11:00 our time) to see the Ball come down and then kiss and lights out.  Hardly ever made it till midnight.  We were never  much of party goers.  Just family suited us just fine.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and my wish for a happy and healthy one.

NOT TIP TOP YET

Not tip top yet, but getting there.  There is progress and the blood pressure is coming down with additional meds.
Christmas was very good.  Being able to see and touch so many of my family was wonderful.  Every year is different as time marches on but many things never change,  The love and respect I see between each member of my family is unchanged and wonderful.  I wish I could have felt better physically but that is  something that changes.  I thought of a poem I wrote in 2014 called TIP OF TOP.  I wrote it after a bout with a cold that took me down for a while.  It kind of fits this year,

TIP OF TOP

Ever been in Tip Top Shape?
The worlds' oyster to take?
I question just what that means.
I ponder with mind so keen.

Does it mean on top of the tip?
Careful not to slip?
Uncomfortable looking down,
At people on the ground.

All alone, looking down,
Quiet - not a sound.
Careful, your bubble may pop.
Very lonesome - on the top.

After thinking this whole thing through,
This is what I think I'll do.
Skip along, and don't stop,
Stay in the middle - not on Tip Top.

P. S. to today

At coffee and exercise class, we had bumper crowd.  The subject was brought up about the new recording we have on wake up call.  We call in every morning to let them know we are still here.  It has been a sweet female voice since I have been here,  This morning it was a male voice and not as sweet as the female voice.  Lots of comments  but the best one was (and you have to know this person) was  "Well the last thing I want to here first thing in the morning is a man's voice."  I thought it was funny, knowing her,  Betty Boop

WORDS OF WISDOM

You groan--"not again", there she goes again-preaching.  Not really.  I often do my blog after reading a devotional and Bible and am in the mood to pass it on.  I know you have read many times ingredients for HAPPINESS.  Here is another good list.:

1. someone to love
2, something to do.
3. something to hope for
4. faith
5. laughter.
All doable I think.     Well, I will do something this afternoon that will bring happiness to me.  I am part of a team to hand out gift checks to our very dedicated employees at their Christmas party.  What an honor,  They are the best you can find anywhere and I am proud to be a part of it.  330 it takes to run this place and they do it well.  I am blessed to be here.

Don't Know

The last two days I wrote--I accidently deleted.  Ever done that?  I tried to recover it but it is out in cyber space looking surprised.  Therefor I can't remember what I told you in those blogs.  If I can't remember, I don't think you missed much.  Just the fun of yesterday of getting my little shopping done.  Guided by the QUEEN OF SHOPPING--Amy.  She is good, quick, and good at suggestions.  I hardly had the pleasure of agonizing over each purchase.  Way to go.  There are a few perks in getting older, and I intend to take them.  Ivy was able to join us and we had lunch at Corner Bakery.  Fun.

Well off to the Foot Dr. today and to get some things altered.

MERRY (CHRISTMAS) MONDAY

The big Christmas program sung by the SCV SUNSHINE CHOIR was a big success.  I enjoyed singing with 30 or more, don't know exactly how many.  I will have to say we did good.  Singing to a packed house, even some standing, we really blew the roof off.  Just bragging.  It meant so much to me to have 5 of my family there.  Including Brody who sat through it without moving.  Not every 2 year old can do that.  He loves music and he really enjoys our music programs.

I am going to sign checks with two other Trustees of the Christmas Fund this morning.  Our plan with that has been a big success.  We are distributing a large fund this year and I am proud of our residents and also the employees who serve us.  They are the best.

OOOPS!!

I started the day off funny.  I sprinkled my soft boiled egg with cinnamon instead of pepper.{by mistake}.  Not to be wasteful, I sprinkled pepper and salt too and I barely tasted the cinnamon.  On to Church.  Amy did a beautiful centerpiece on the alter of three different Nativity scenes from different countries.  One was mine from Mexico.  I was delighted to see it.  I gave it to her when I moved from Riverwood.

Had lunch with Amy's sweet children--Sophie and Paul--M. G, and Ryan,  All are getting ready for Christmas.  Enjoyed it.   I am receiving little "happies" at my door from friends here.  I know so many nice people.  Full week ahead and I still must do a little shopping.  Not much but just a little to feel like Christmas.

WHAT'S THE HURRY?

There is excitement in the air.  It picks up your mind and spirit, not to mention your step.  Why hurry?  Just try to slow up and enjoy.  I heard a lady the other day say she wished she could go to sleep and wake up to it being over.  She was talking about Christmas and smarty me said "Oh I thought you were talking about leaving this earth."  No, I just made that up.  I only thought my comment.  Christmas can be a worry.  I remember as a child going to my Grandparents house in the country of Durant, Ms. at Christmas and being worried that Santa would not find me.  He did find me and brought one of my prized gifts.  A Mickey Mouse watch.  Other memories are in my little book I wrote for you grandchildren.  It was a Christmas gift.  Do you still have it?  I remember other outstanding Christmas's.  Jan getting her "Ruthie" doll all dressed in flannel nightgown and Linda getting a surprise gift of a Mouse game.  And Amy getting white Go-Go boots.  Those little expected and unexpected gifts make memories.  There I go again down memory lane--forgive me.  I just can't help it sometime.

Many wonderful things are happening NOW.  That is the only place we should really live.  I have heard so many wonderful programs of music this year.  I do love music at Christmas.  I have a varied collection of CD"s.  The Oldies are great but some new is good too.        Hey I just heard Jan is coming for lunch and help with a few things.  She is bringing Tommy--a plus!!

HERD OF REINDEER

I just delivered my 49th reindeer!!  I have had a lot of calls and "thank you "in the halls.  Since I released this herd of clothespin reindeer I have had many comments.  I am sure some think I am crazy to spend so much time on such useless stuff, but they all seemed to like them.  They are cute.  They made me happy too.  I have one left and don't know what to do with him.  I could have given 10 more but I had to stop someplace.

I had homemade bean soup for lunch that I made and froze a while ago.  Comes in handy when you don't wont to go "out" to eat.  So lunch was good today.  I have some light reading now.  Since that last one I read--I need something I don't have to figure out and just enjoy.  So back to that.  I seem to have caught up on things today.  Tomorrow we are having open house for several residents who are opening their home for everyone to enjoy their decorations in their apartment or house.  A hot chocolate and cookie party in the Activity room afterward.  Think I will go.  Nor going to TOP OF THE DOM tonight.  I have been a couple of years and while it is nice, I decided not to go this year.

SUNDAY

Our Choir at Church is small now, just like the congregation.  Small in number but big in love.  The Choir sang the most beautiful Christmas program yesterday.  They sounder twice their size and just as beautiful as any choir I've ever heard.  Put me in the right spirit. and I needed it.  Lunch outside a fun restaurant with Amy, Ryan and M. G, was fun too.  I delivered the rest of my reindeer ornaments in the afternoon.  I gave out 40 so far.  Many comments.  I hope they give my friends a laugh.  That is my purpose.   Well off to exercise and usual activities.

SATURDAY GUEST

Cary, Jan, and Brody came after they went to the Madison Christmas parade.  They were full of energy.  Excitement I guess.  I got to hear all about it over lunch.  Brody told me about the fire truck in the parade.  Can you imagine Santa riding it instead of a sleigh?  Worked for him.  He especially liked (I think) the motorcycles.  He told about it with sparkling eyes and sound effects .  He loved seeing the trains here at St. Catherine's.  And all the other beautiful decorations we have.  Imagine all the things he is seeing for the first time.  His little brain is growing full.  I always enjoy my family over lunch in the Cyber.

I saw a beautiful sight already this morning.  I opened the drapes to a beautiful display of the clouds.  Amazing!!!  Then as most weekends I saw a skywriter doing BIG things in the sky. He made a circle as far as I could see.  I am sure he went all around us.  And then back and up and over.  He was having fun I am sure.  Hope a lot of people saw it.  Wish I knew who it is.  Good way to start my day.

PLENTY TO DO

Jan asked why I had not blogged since the 29th.  First I was flattered that I had a regular following.  My blog is something I love to do, so I assumed it is for me.  But thanks for reading.

It has been a busy time from before Thanksgiving. So much is going on.  I just got back from a great Christmas program.  Remember Guy Hovis of the Lawrence Welk show?.  He is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi.  He sang Christmas songs.  Enjoyed it.  We had a full house since everyone is of his time and remember him.  He still looks pretty good.  Yesterday we had a good music show too.  And there is more to come. Everyone here is getting in the festive mood.  Decorations at each door and all over the halls and gardens and outside everywhere.  I wonder if we are remembering that they must come down one day?   It is still worth it.   Must go and see about a little supper and read, TV and then to bed.  Tomorrow is Saturday  Jan Day!!
