STILL HERE

I have just been occupied with many things and have not posted in a few days.  I went to breakfast in the Cyber this morning.  I haven't been lately.  I do enjoy it.  I do not have a coffee maker and I do love coffee at breakfast.  So that and sausage was a treat.  I was greeted by my friend Sister Margaret, who left here a few months ago to go to another appointment in Ill.  I miss her.  She was such a comfort when Truman died.  She is here for a short visit.  I just fell into her arms and felt so good.  Also I got a kiss on the cheek and another hug from one of the cooks from the dinning room.  I meet her sometime if I go early.  She is such an inspiration and so sweet.  Also met a resident who at first I did not think liked me.  I worked on it for a while.  She said  this morning that I was always a joy to see. Finally everyone I met was friendly.  I guess I got off to a good start.  I am blessed.  I hope the rest of the day is good.

HELLO, HERE I AM AGAIN

Remember this song? (of course you don't .  YOU KEEP COMING BACK LIKE A SONG.  Old timer, and I can remember them better than I can remember yesterday.  But I keep coming back, maybe not like a song, but coming anyway.  Each day brings hope when I try to think I am better.  I had breakfast with three sweet ladies this morning,  Ham and eggs and the conversation was good.  Started off  talking about the singer Prince who just died.  Ended up with the Queen's 90th birthday.  We are very close to the same age.  Who looks their age?  And she has had queen's treatment.  I had Truman.  He really did take good care of me, of course I am trying to do the same.

I enjoyed watching our "Master's" yesterday.  The results were posted this morning.  There were three "hole in one's "  and one was a woman who came in second.  Hooray for her.  I knew her before St. Catherine's.  There are more nice events coming up.  Sorry I can't join some of them, but some I can.  And I will.

THE MASTERS TEE TIME 2;00 P.M.

Yes, St. Catherine's has a Golf Tournament.  It is going on right now outside my balcony .     I have a front row seat.  It looks like fun.  Now Truman would have loved to play that one.  He would win--hands down.  It seems they have several ladies playing.  Those pesky Canada geese strolled across the golf "course" this morning.  I hope they did not make a mess to roll your ball in.  Ugh!!  I guess they were still just "looking". I just don't understand them.  A yell just went up out there.  I saw Shirley get her ball from the hole.  Guess  she got one in.  The weather is beautiful.  Sun is shinning and not much wind. I know enough about golf to know that is perfect weather.

UPDATE

Would you really like to know about the "boot"?  Well I guess I will have to say I am making progress.  Not as much pain and I have gotten rid of the horrible boot.  But since I am not completely healed, I now am wearing, just in the daytime, this insert in my regular shoe.  I call it a half boot.  Still not pretty but  cares except me?  Dr. did laser again.  Can't tell any results from that.  Three more weeks of this and we will see what is next.  It is very painful first thing in the morning till I walk a bit and I still get tired.  So be I!!

I had a really good day yesterday because Amy came and we went to Lowes and bought flowers for my balcony pots.  Ryan met us and helped bring them up.  We then had lunch which was fun and we laughed a lot.  Amy then came up and redid my pots and planted them.  I am so pleased, they look great.  I was whipped out and it was too late for a nap.  But I am happy.  Thank you Lord for Amy and Ryan.  I need them and also all the other good help I get from my family.  Today so far the sun is shinning and all is well.

UPDATE ON BOOT.

I have made progress.  I went to the Dr. yesterday and she put me in what I call a half boot.  It is really an insert in my shoe.  Yes my regular sneaker.  It only comes up to my ankle.  Improvement because it is not as heavy and tiresome.  But I have to wear it daily for three weeks.  I am not healed yet.  Still hurts some and she gave me new pain meds but I am afraid to take them for fear of blood sugar spike like before.  O well I will have to endure it for a while.  I know I should be patient and not worry but it is hard.

                                                  ON A LIGHTER NOTE
My resident geese are still having trouble.  Yesterday afternoon she went up under shrubs in front of me.  He was livid!!  Finally after much coaching, she gave up and came out.  Away they flew.   This morning I heard a fuss again.  She had not given up.  They were flying like dive bombers (right over and into my balcony).  He was herding her away as best he could.  Finally he got her away again.  I wonder if geese get divorced?  Looks like they can't get along.        Stay tuned for the next chapter.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE??

Maybe I am wrong but here is what it looks like from my famous "balcony."  Canada Guess are really not welcome here, but they are very persistent. They usually stay on the other side of the lake or just by the edge on my side.  But mating is a different time.
For three days off and on,. I have watched these two fussy ones up close in front of my balcony.  The first time I heard such a fuss, "she" was on top of the cover of the space between the Golf course and the Croquet court.  On top and him fussing at her from the ground. I think to come down.  No! she said.  Finally he flew into her and they took off over the Lake.  Next day they were back and she was looking under the shrubs by the building.  No! he said.  Too close to people.  Finally he convinced her to move on.  This morning, she wont give up.  They were back and making such a fuss.  I guess they were disagreeing big time.  She flew back up on the roof and he said this is it!!  Now get down and let's go now.  He flew at her and they had a little scuffle and finally flew away.  They had better hurry and  get the nest built or I may have a birds eye view on top of the roof. She seems to like it there.

Ah! the drama that love can be.  Right now there seems to be no love between those two.  Stay tuned.  I hope this story has a happy ending.

GUESS WHO IS BACK?

While gazing out at the rain, I was startled to see a Humming bird checking out anything red on the balcony.  Red in the chair cushions. red of the begonia and being disappointed and flew to the next balcony.  I rushed, (as fast as I can rush) and looked up the humming bird sweet water recipe, just to be sure I have it right.  I made a quart and now it is cooling.  The thing now is not to put anything else in it but water and sugar.  Food coloring is not good for them,  I have a very small feeder that you stick in a flower pot and it does not hold a lot.  But last year they seemed to appreciate it.  How exciting that those very small birds can travel so far.  Another wonder of Nature.  There are many, just think about it.

JUST ROLLING ALONG

While getting 5 minutes of fresh air on the balcony after Exercise class, I enjoyed the way the birds were singing,  Maybe they were saying a thank you that the rain has stopped.  I felt like chirping too.  Although I think we are expecting more later.

You know, it is so wonderful they way so many friends have been to be concerned for me and my latest plight.  We all have health concerns and to be nice to ask about me is a blessing.  Friday I go back to the Dr.  We will see what is next.  I will not worry about that right now.  I will write poetry for the VILLAGER.

OUR COURT-YARD
Dot Ellis

Pause at our beautiful Court-Yard and see,
Roses, Amaryllis, Easter Lilies, and more.
It is such a delight for me,
To sit on a bench outside the door.

On a bright sunny day,
If you are lucky you might see,
Tiny green lizards come out to play.
To make some squeal with glee.

What a perfect place for it to be,
For many pass by each day.
Such beauty for us to see.
To lift us on our way.

That says a lot.

DARK & STORMY NIGHT

Yes it really looked bad out the window while we were at dinner in the dinning room.  Lot of rain and wind.  This morning my balcony was a mess from two pots turned over.  Had to swept it off.  Not raining now at noon, but more is expected.  Guess Spring is like this, yet it seems more intense than usual.  I saw two pairs of Canada geese strolling on the golf tee and then on to the croquet course.  My they are big up close.  I hear they can be aggressive too.  Then our Activity director came out and shooed them off.  I don't know why they came up that far.  They usually stay on the other side of the Lake.  They were not happy to be so unwelcomed.

I went to the History Club even though Tommy could not come.  It was very interesting.  About the life of Lady Bird Johnson.  I learned enough to really respect her as a person and first Lady.  You know when history is being made, you don't pay enough attention, till it is told much later.  Of course that is what history is all about.  I made an appointment to get my hair cut on Thursday.  I really need it.  And I am enjoying getting it done here at St. Catherines".    O, K, -----NAP TIME

MESSY MONDAY

Good morning faithful  readers of my blog.  You give me the courage to express my thoughts everyday.  I think that is a good thing,  To write and to read yours too.  It is a messy morning because the weather is muggy, cloudy and chance of rain.  O. K. we will find indoor things to do.  At Coffee this morning some talked about what they do when it rains.  One makes soup.  One reads and one just looks out the window.  I like for it to rain within reason of course.  Kind of slows you and makes me glad I don't have to go anyplace.  I was glad that Amy reminded me that my foot Dr. said this third week to wear the "boot". I could cut the time in half.  I choose to take that time at night.  Whew!  I can sleep better.  It does feel better today and I am hopefully looking to my visit on Friday.  After Church yesterday, Amy and I were the only ones to go, the grands were elsewhere, we had lunch at a favorite of mine--MR. CHENS--it was good and we had time to talk.  She actually says that she likes to be with me.  How many mothers can claim that statement?  Not all of them.  What a blessing.!!

I have a subject running around in my head for new poem for the VILLAGER.   I had better hurry to the Bubble and write before I loose the thought.

SUNNY SATURDAY

Sunny in more ways than one.  Of course the sun is shinning and that is good. Sunny also because Jan came and we got so much done. We cleared  out a lot of old papers and mail that I was afraid to discard. That really felt good.  I really would be lost without her,  From clearing up these medical bills to packing up winter clothes and getting out my old tired summer duds.  I really need to donate some of my old friends.  We had a good lunch and she showed me videos of Brody experiencing his first snow.  He tried to catch snow flakes and laughed when he opened his hands to no snow.  David was running with him in his arms and laughing with him.  That little family, though we miss them so much,  will be O. K.  We miss them but Jan can see him on demand.  How nice.  Sometime we don't understand why things happen the way they do, but there is a plan and we must trust that it is right.

I am still dealing with the "boot".  One more week and we will see what my Dr. has to say.  I guess I will just be prepared for what she says and go with it.  I do hope it does not include this draggy old boot.  Gosh it has been a pain.  I really have been slowed down.  Maybe that is a good thing.       My friend Betty brought me some of her homemade veg, soup.  Along with that and some crab meat salad that I picked up from the dinning room, I will have a good supper later and hope to go to Church tomorrow.

Mama Mary"s

Mama Mary is not a person I know--but I am getting ready tonight to know her.  Just being silly.  While shopping for me yesterday(what a perk) Amy saw these whole grain small pizza crust.  I have looked for whole wheat before but did not find them.  Knowing I would like a way to have a pizza  once in a while, she bought the ingredients for me to try this.  Pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms and I can add anything else I choose.  I was so excited and if I had not already picked up dinner I would have tried it last night for my dinner.  Maybe tonight?  Amy is so thoughtful.  She knows me very well and can see little acts of kindness that are so exciting.

Well I am off to Exercise class.  Surprises me how much of it I can do even with the "BOOT"

EXCITING SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Being tired and in a "funk" Amy thought I would benefit from a change.  She and I had been talking about rearranging my living room furniture and eliminating a chair.  She thought the flow could be better for my getting around.  She brought in the "big guns".  Ryan, M. G. and friend Chris. Two  big  strong people- two strong  small, ones and one observer.  She worked them hard and for about two hours or more they lifted and shoved and rearranged till she was pleased.  I  will live with it for a few days and then we will get maintenance to rehang my pictures.  I must say, I like it a lot.  It seems less cluttered and more open and bigger.  Change can be good.  I think I will leave it this way.  Thanks to them for being so good and willing.  I really am blessed.

NEW NAMES AND LABELS

I do venture out a little to pick up mail and food.  Everywhere I go I get "looks:.  Some comments:  "You have to give up soccer.", "What does the other feller look like."  Hello Crip, Hop-a-long, one of the Munsters. (remember them? )  And most of all--What did you do?  I do look funny, with my capris and one boot leg and one sneeker But many are sorry for me and offer assistance.  Also I have gotten much advice from those who have had similar problems and those who have not and know nothing about it.  Par for the course.   I am one week and a little more into this thing and I am getting used to it.  Another "new normal"  I guess.  Lot of those.

I know this happens to the young and old, but at this stage in life, I can't help but blame old age.  Excuse me--another stage of life.  Just glad to be here.  A bum heel does not keep me from writing.  Here is my next contribution for the Library Board.

MAY FLOWERS

Pretty flowers in the month of May
Old. saying----goodness knows.
But this is what I  say.
Someone's   been to LOWES

Lots of planning and fun
Goes into this show.
So pray for rain and sun,
As off to work we go.

Inside!!!And I do have another poem to write for the next VILLAGER. Please give me another "May" subject other than flowers.  I thought of TWITTERPATED"-- discarded that because maybe not for this crowd.  But then we do have memories.
