GOT TO HURRY

Got stuff to do. I am so slow lately. It takes me longer. But I do what I can. Covid shot is a big thing around here. Got to get in line that is very determined to be always first. I admit, I am too. 

I observe the birds every morning. Get to know some of them. A certain one comes and sits and looks and waits on the side of the feeder. He is looking and looking, but waiting to eat. He is patient but he waits. Finally in "she" comes with flurry and they dive in to eat together. Same thing every morning. My he is patient.

And we are back. The birds are a part of SCV. So they have to stand in line a lot. Tomorrow we stand in line our Covid Booster. We already got the flu shot. So I have my day planned. I do need a haircut. When, I don't know how to fit all my active life in. Ha Ha Ha.

WAITING IN LINE

 The birds were slow to come. Wanted to stay in bed at 29 degrees. But they did finally come. A lot of them. They had to stand in line all lined up on the rail and wait there turn. As one would hop out, another took it's place. Really!!! That is the way we do here at SCV. Wait your turn. Well.

COLD BUT BEAUTIFUL TODAY,

 Yes, tis time.  I wore a sweat shirt yesterday. Linda gave me 2 new ones. It felt good. I met a Happy man yesterday going down the hall telling everyone--"Happy Day After".  He must have had a good one. I think all my people have the right idea. traveling. I found myself starring at a large photo hanging in my bedroom. Me and Truman on top of Pikes Peak. Several of my family have or still are traveling. Love it!!!!  Go when you can. You will be glad you did. I saw a big jet take off through the sky, taking someone  somewhere. It made a beautiful stream in the air. You know what?  I have stopped wanting to go some place else. Home sounds good to me. But I do love to hear about others and their travels. As I found myself starring at Truman and me on top of Pikes Peak I remembered it well.  Good memories are almost like being there again.

DIFFERENT KIND OF DAY

 But a nice  one.

Smaller amount around the table. Used my Mother's silverware. Wish she could see it being used. Different food, but Amy has mastered the cornbread dressing just like or better than Mother's.  I could have made a meal of the relish dishes A#2 brought. Along with A#1, they covered it well.  Carving the Cornish hens really was better than a big old turkey  for Ed.  Lady peas brought us back to  Summer as we enjoyed them. So much more was enjoyed. Maybe next gathering will be bigger.  The more the better. Well I will settle down to oatmeal and banana. Still good.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

 Cold and not so bright. But the sun is shinning behind the clouds. Hope you are with those you love. Ours are scattered as far as distant countries where they do not celebrate the same as we do. Our crew gets smaller as we speak.  One dropped because getting sick and his mate is staying with him. They just got back from a trip to see their kids in another state. Maybe picked up something not to pass on. Please get well fast.  Down to 4.  We will remember this one.

SOMETHING NEW

 We are having Cornish Hens instead of turkey. First for everything. Looking forward to those cute little babies. The rest is traditional. Just 6 of us. One is a guest. Glad to have a friend to be with us. I remember the "olden" days. Just leave them in the Memory  Bank and enjoy TODAY. I know everything will be very good. I raised good cooks.  Always trying to to do special things.

STORMY LAST NIGHT

 Hope you are all o. k. Not much rain here yet. Maybe today. You know, there is nothing like a good old fashioned breakfast. Toast, egg over light, bacon. coffee. orange juice. You don't even have to think, just make it happen. And I did. Enough said about that.

Choir was good yesterday, Happy I can still make a little noise. The program is going well. we will be ready. However that Amen song we close with is hard to get right. But when you think about it, ----  it is just full of "Amens". Everyone singing at a different time and who knows if it Bass  or Altos time to sing?  Just sing them all. The Great Amen has spoken.

DONUT SHOP BREAKFAST BLEND (KROGER)

As you remember, I have been trying out new coffee.  Each one taste better than the last I tasted. And all the before are forgotten. So, I was surprised at  how I liked it. DONUT SHOP BLEND. Kroger carries it. It is so good. It is the one to settle on. McNeil Home favorite. SO BE IT  AMEN

My Popcorn tree has shed it's beautiful red leaves overnight. I have enjoyed it's many stages and look forward to it again. 

Better stop. I keep having to correct mistakes. Very annoying,

IN THE 60'S. SUN SHINNING. NO WIND----PERFECT

 What could be better? I am looking at the big Pine trees that were small when I first saw them. My how they have grown in the 12-13 years I have lived at SCV. Time has traveled and so have I. I have done so many things I never thought I could do. It is called "growing." Sometime we are forced to change. So many new friends and experiences. I had "little cuties" left at my door. No name and no one to thank. Also some cookies. I do have thoughtful friends. 

I have Amy to help and fill up two spots with Jan gone for a visit to grandkids.  I am getting so "needy" and they are my help for sure. Oh, you know "little cuties" are small tangerines, in case you don't know. Very popular this time of year. Cute and sweet to eat. Hey, that describes me, just not to eat.

 Not a good day for football. But play they will. Never understood the love of football. have decided it is the tailgate food and fun with friends that it is all about. Anyway, I am out of that now. You remember the old tale of mine about the old lady sitting in a "straightback" chair in the back of a wagon. She was thrown from her perch when they hit a hole  the muddy road. Out she flew and sat in the mud and as she watched the wagon bump on down the road, she declared: "Well, I"m out of that now."  I have said that many times. Many problems come and go and how wish this unbalance would just go.

GOOD MORNING

 Day started good. Numbers were good and decided to try the Blog  this morning. I have a little gift skillet called a HOT  SPOT. Cooks my egg-over-light perfect. I cracked my egg in it this morning and my morning was cracked too. The yolk broke and filled the space. Looked like an egg pancake. Not to be discouraged, I named it Pancake Egg and trudged on. Flipped it orange over and it looked fine. I treated myself to Fig Preserves orange  juice and coffee .   I think I will stop now.  When I had to lug out the Dictionary to look up how to spell cantaloupe, I called it stop when you are ahead.

TRY AGAIN

One of the pleasures I have is writing the DOT SPOT. It gives me a  way to visit and tell of my day or night sometime. My food, especially breakfast. To write on the computer is getting hard.  I guess it is my eyesight that is the problem. Eyesight to the brain. Lord how I have tried. But every   time I try, I make so many mistakes that I get frustrated and it makes me have to stop.  So, I will wait to a more stable time .  Don't know when that is.  But I guess you can live missing it from time to time.

I lost  my morning blog. I worked hard on it. How I did it I don't know. If you will forgive me, I will not try to do it over. It was not worth it. So please take a day off and look for a better tomorrow.

CHOIR PERFORMANCE

 Our Choir program will be December 11 at 3 till 4. That is our usual practice time. It will me an hour of old favorites and end with some real old Christmas favorites and some new ones too. We still have a few "oldies", like me and some real good new ones too. Already sounds like professionals.  Our director brags that we could compete with any Choirs that she knows.  Don't know if it is true, but we do a lot to help our friends get into the Christmas spirit, as well as ourselves 

We have such a few trees that turn their leaves .  Mostly Pines, but the few I see are bright and mostly red. Wonder what the rest of the U. S. looks like since the weather has been strange. One year, we traveled through the Eastern States, this time of the year in our Motor Home. The colors were unreal. So beautiful in the mountains. Such memories really stay especially  because we were with Irene and Cecil.  They were the best traveling "buddies"

FROM STREAK TO CLOUDS.

 I watched as 3 planes took off. Leaving the streaks and then turning to clouds. I then remembered my first flight. By myself to Dallas, Southern Methodist University to see Truman graduate from Banking School. Took a while for that to happen. I have flown many times since, but the first was exciting. Everyone on the plane knew from my actions that it was the first. But wait till you fly over water and the ocean at that!!!!!That a few times is  still something to remember. 

The old Sparrow friends are a bit jealous. They do not get on the feeder, but eat the crumbs the others are always dropping. Fun to watch.

My brain is really mixed. Can't even figure what time it really is. Oh well. I just take my sleep when I can get it. Just let the brain deal with it. It is already in that mode.

WAKE UP LITTLE SUSIE

 How did you sleep last night? Did you wake on time? I did just fine, although, it is a pain to reset all my clocks. Finally got it right. Birds seem confused at the change. Finally gathered and began to eat like there is no tomorrow.  Maybe that is true.  I will soon have to go back to BIRDS UNLIMITED and buy this special food that is for balcony's that wont sift through on my neighbor. Can't explain it, but the Lady at the store sold me on it. Expensive, but it works. So what else is new?  SO BE IT.!!!!!!

 I have a little game, called Left. Right, Left. Old Army marching song. It goes

When I first get up in the morning, I have trouble getting the old right knee moving.. It had a replacement long ago, but is still cantankerous. I start to march with left, right, left till it works. Also assures that I can still talk too. Talking and waking are most essential. So here I go, Left, Right. Left, till I am back in bed depending on what time it is. Speaking of time, don't forget to set the clock back tonight. You know--Fall Back. Don't you just love David Hartman, weather man? He gets so excited at any change.

FORGETFUL, OH NO

 Earlier I had something funny to tell. But when I finally got to write--I can't remember what It was. So just put your hands across your middle and take a deep breath and laugh as if it is the funniest thing you ever heard. SO BE IT.

WAIT, WHAT MONTH IS IT ANYWAY?

 Let's do purple in color. I like it. From frost to sunny. Can you stand it?  Before the week is done, we will have had it all----except rain. Which we do need. 

I saw a beautiful Red male Cardinal yesterday at my new feeder. I gasp for breath, it was so beautiful and surprising. Did not see his mate. but they don't stand out as much as the man of the house. I am glad I thought of a bird feeder to replace the Hummers when they go South. 

Can you make a perfect "egg over light"?  I did this morning. Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes. But not always true. I have had plenty of practice, but many failures. Nothing sadder than a egg-over-light gone bad. No. not bad but not perfect. 

tasted good and with bacon, toast and a small bowl of fresh strawberries, topped with Starbuck coffee. T'was great.

NOVEMBER A MONTH TO REMEMBER

 November stands out. Our Anniversary month. November 23, 1946. Long ago and far away. this little dark-haired girl stood, shaking a little and promised to love this good looking dark haired man forever. And I still do. What a life we had and still have many sweet memories, to live with. I wish everyone could be as full filled  and fun filled as we were.

Hey, change the subject, so be it. Love strawberries on my oatmeal. Can get them the year around now, if you want to pay for them. And I do . Sun looks good , now that it is so cold. I plan to change the witches to the crazy old turkey. He is cute and funny. Need funny, I don't think everyone appreciates cute, for a turkey. Oh, I do go on and on. Side affect of having to make my own fun.
