PLEASE RAIN STOP

The weather man (lady) said it would stop today and the sun will shine--for a while. I hope so. The sun makes us all happy. Tree is uo and decorated, with those old tired decorations. But hey!!it is my stuff and I like it. Presents are wrapped under the tree. We have escaped the flu and colds. I am grateful for that. We have the long tables up and decorated in the living room. It looks pretty (to me) Even more will it be pretty when we are sitting around it and eating that turkey and dressing. We will have a good crowd but not eryone. Sad but how lucky we are to have had everyone so many times. I understand some can not come but we will miss the ones that cannot be here.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

LET IT SNOW,LET IT SNOW--LET IT SNOW

It is always exciting to have a little snow. When we went to bed it was really coming down and this morning the view ffom each window was like a Christmas card. Penny went out but stayed on the patio. She said I don;t have to put up with this and came right back inside. The sun is out and it will melt fast I think--however it is only 30 degrees. If you know Mississippi you know that can change fast. We are off to Carthage to Truman's Class reunion at Sam Waggoner's farm and old family home. It is fun,We have lunch, exchange silly presents and have a good time. Back to neighborhood for annual neighborhood party. We are having shrimp gumbo and all the trimmings. Aren't we the social butterflies? Christmas music by our choir at Church Sunday. Next week I will tell you about fun planned. Things are really getting started. I am so grateful that we are able to do it all. (almost all)

OOPS TWO TIMES

I made the same mistake two times. The t and y are next to each other YOUR STRENGTH WILL EQUAL YOUR DAYS. Now is that right.?

MaMaw.

OOPS1111

That Bible verse should have read TOUR STRENGTH WILL EQUAL YOUR DAYS. Deuteronomy 33-25. My eyes do tricks when I type. Even whwn I proof read. Forgive me.MaMaw

TOUR STRENGTH WILL EQUAL YOUR DAYS Deutronomy 33:25

I needed all the stregenth I could muster. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving but I got real tired. Linda and Joe, Whitney and Cameron. Andrew and Liam came Wednesday and left Saturday and Sunday. I have a "bag of memories" and they are wonderful. I pull them out one by one and enjoy. Amy and Ed did a wonderful job with Thanksgiving dinner. She said she could not have done it without the HELP of M.G. and Sophie. Those girls are wizzies(sp). Everything was so good. Jan had us for lunch Friday to celebrate Cary's graduation. Oh boy she made some good soups. All the girls (except me) went shopping Saturday. Amy was sick but took meds and shots and kept going.

Good news with my eyes Monday. Still treating that eye with care and eye drops but I am making good progress. Good news to day about the biopsy on Truman's ear. No further treatment. We are about to get tired of these things happening to us but are grateful that thus far we are making it. Each day is a blessing. (we have to keep reminding ourselves of that. Now we look forward to Christmas. Have you been good little girls and boys? I hope so. Penny is better. By the time I treat my eyes, all day long, give Penny shots treat Truman"s new "bo-bos" we have a full life. Aren"t we lucky?

OUR 63th

Yes 63 years ago today we said "I DO' And we have had 63 wonderful years filled with happiness, fun. sadness and the everyday stuff too. Wonderful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, son-in=laws, and grandchildren have picked good mates. Have I left out anyone? It is hard to believe so much has happened. Much more to come and we thank God each day for the blessings that come our way.

Brrrrrrrrrr Cold

Not really, but it may frost tonight. Pansies like the cold and that always seems wrong to me. They look so delicate to me. We put out three flats of them Saturday along with ornamental cabbage. I wonder what they would taste like? I do not think I will try them. They are so pretty. Something dug a couple up last night and the night before. Even with the wire Truman covered them with, they got to them. Wonder what did it? Those pesky coons I guess. We replanted them and they look o. k.. We are getting ready for Thanksgiving and looking forward to having Linda and Joe-Cameron and Whitney and the worlds cutest great grandsons--Andrew and Liam. Amy is having us at their house for the big feast. Dogs going to Day Care for the day. At least Truffles is. I will shut the Cat here in my bedroom (Whitney is allergic to cats like Ashley.) I do not mind that and Penny will like it too. Hope for me that my dressing comes out good. Amy will bake turkey. Lot of fun coming. We will miss some of our family. Maybe Christmas will be even better.

BEWARE FRIDAY 13th

I was wondering why I spilled my orange juice all over the table . placemat, and the floor-made Penny cry when her shot went in wrong, and then I remembered it is Friday the 13th. Should I even get out of the house today? No I do not believe in that silly notion. Just for fun maybe. What do you all say about Friday the 13th?

THIS, THAT, AND THE OTHER.

Silver Sneakers today. Went good. I always feel good after exercise. Cat better. Guess I am getting good at giving shots. Real cool here and the leaves are turning. Our back yard is so pretty. My favorite time of the year. I took soup and flowers from my back yard (yes really) to my neighbor next door. I helped a lady pick out a dress to wear to a wedding yesterday. Had no idea who she was. I tried to give evryone a smile who did not have one at the Mall. I gave a lot of them. And got some in return. Try it. All these little things took my mind off things that were bothering me. It works!!!. And DANCING WITH THE STARS is still my favorite show --on no. the CMA AWARD SHOW LAST NIGHT WAS GOOD. I did not agree with all of the winners but I still like to look at it.

Boy what a hodgepodge of news. Sounds boreing to some but it is my life. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. Andrew and Liam are coming. O boy. Can't wait.

HATTIESBURG & BEYOND

We had a funfilled weekend. Had trouble going to sleep last night, rerunning it in my mind. First we went to Hattiesburg to visit Sophie and Cary. Lunch was delightful(by Sophie) She is such a good planner and gave us a wonderful lunch. So very interesting!!! and good. To plan and deliver is quiet a task and everyone who has done this knows you have to have everything come together at the right time. And she did it. M. G. and Cary gave her some support and help. It felt strange for Amy to leave them all there because M. G. and Ivy stayed for the rest of the weekend. The house was so cute and decorated nice. We went to tour the Campus and it is so beautiful. So many nice buildings. Thanks to our Senators from Mississippi. Cary's apartment was just like her. Very simple but elegant!!. Nice furniture and good places to lounge. I know she is looking forward to being settled with David in their new apartment with a cat to make it fun. Church and afternoon with newspaper and football all made it a good weekend. Penny is better and I am better at giving her shots.

SNEEKERS AND CATS

I got to go back to SILVER SNEEKERS class yesterday for the first time in several weeks due to various illnesses. Felt good and I did not pick up the weights yet. But I did not forget the Mombo!!! That was good. Penny is still sick. We have not gotten her diabetes under control yet. I am still giving her inslin shots. She does not mind a bit. I believe she is a tiny bit better. Had lunch with Amy, Mary Grace and Steven yesterday for M.Gs birthday. I asked her how it felt to be 18. MaMaw!!I am 19!!! Time marches on. I have trouble keeping up.

EYES AND CATS

Been busy getting the eyes back on track. I am doing great. Dr. said I am doing better than expected. Can't keep this old girl down long. But(there is always a but) my cat Penny is diabetic. I am giving her shots and while she does not mind--I am having trouble with it. Maybe I will get better. I hope she improves. She goes back Monday to test her blood sugar. Kind of like humans. Well the rain has finally stopped and sun this morning AND we get that hour back tonight. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!! It does not take a lot to be happy.

PENNY

Long time no see? Speaking of seeing, well I had eye surgery over a week ago. I have had many of them over the last few years. Thank the Lord and Dr. Herrington I am able to keep what I have left in my right eye. Hard to go through but with Truman's TLC I am on the road again. Can't lift anything heavy for three more weeks but I can handel that. Penny is sick and Amy is taking us to the Vet this morning. Love that cat and hope for the best.

LAZY AND SICK

I have not bloged in a week. I was very busy helping at the Church and overdid myself. I came down with a pulled mussel in my back on Monday. I lifted a heavy pan of rice we were cooking in the oven and that did it I think. Did you know you could cook a large batch of rice in the oven and it comes our perfect!!. I did not know that. Anyway I had the worse back trouble all week. Better today and went to Church. Funny thing happened this morning--We were eating breakfast and Penny made this funny noise -=I looked as she was at the back glass doors

. There was her cousin. A young racoon--they were nose to nose. I believe Penny looks a lot like a racoon and they were the same size that neither one could figure it out. I made the mistake of rushing to the door instead of waiting for it to play out and it ran away. Penny turned like nothing happened. Do they know each other? It was funny. We are going camping with the bunch this weekend. Going to Holmes County Park out from Durant, Ms. Hope to see some pretty foliage and relax. I will try not to be so long in writing in my blog this week.

SATURDAY ALREADY?

How time gets by.. I wont mention Pancakes today, alt ho we had them (banana) and so good. It has rained a bit and we still need more. Big day at Broadmeadow tomorrow. We are celebrating our 60Th year. Actually it is January before we will be 60 but we are honoring our charter members( we are charter members) and we are fading so I guess it is best to go ahead and honor us. We were #21 and 22. Our Church and Church family mean so much to us and has through our years here.

Well I put 12 pints of green butter beans in the freezer yesterday and a couple of weeks ago I did the same with lady peas. Like those squirles we have been discussing--I am putting up provisions for the winter.

See you later.

HAPPY 88TH TRUMAN

We celebrated two nights. Since Linda, Joseph, Lindsay, Jacob and Parker were all here, everyone local wanted to see them and only one night and two days is not long. The long (put together) tables were set up and we just enjoyed two nights of feasting. Truman wanted shrimp and what he wants --he usually gets. No kidding we really did enjoy being together. Aunt Ruby came on Sunday have lunch and with Ivy's boyfriend we had 17. It is her birthday on the 14Th and Truman's the 13. All tablecloths (8) and napkins are laundered and put up and tables back in place again today, and all is quiet again. Penny came out from under the bed. It gets to her. She is used to nothing much going on.

Got to go now.

COMPANY-a-COMING

Linda, Joe, Lindsay, Jacob, and Parker are coming Saturday for Truman's birthday, which is on Sunday the 13th. We will get together Saturday night for Truman and Ivy's birthday. Ivy will be 16 on the 14th. Sweet 16 and never ben kissed? I doubt that.
We saw 4 racoons early this morning at the Lake. Penny was not interested at all. Also a huge blue heron was sitting on the NEW fountain in the lake. That is another story. Also made some new moves at SILVER SNEAKERS yesterday and am a little sore. No , it was not the Mombo. I have that one "down to pat" Where do I get these crazy sayings. Somebody told them long ago I guess. Got to get to work. You would think we would have a better way than setting up tables when we have family. But I have Truman!!! Almost 88 and still very dependable!

GOOD SUNDAY

After reading Ashley and Sophie's blog--mine does not seem as exciting. I wore a bunch of HATS yesterday. First I made muffins for coffee at Church. Truman made the coffee for the break. I prepared and laid out Communion for church service. I cleaned up after. Did you know that the left over grape juice has been blessed and should not be poured down the drain? It is poured in the flower garden or on the ground someplace? Next we went to eat lunch out with Irene and Ruby. Home for nap and looked at golf and football, read the paper and had wine and a grilled cheese sandwich more reading and TV. Life is good. Early this morning I saw one of our resident racoons getting either an early breakfast or a late night snack. He was at the lake woods digging for something. Penny ignored him when I showed the coon to her. He looked like her cousin. So that is what I did. What more excitement will I have for this Labor Day.? We will see.

P.S. I forgot we had coffee from our Betty Boop mugs. A present from Peggy J.

Yes I did it yesterday at SILVER SNEAKERS. I was so proud. We had music of the 60's yesterday to do our exercise by. TWIST AND SHOUT by the Beatles and we did the twist. Do any of you youngesters know the Twist? I think we are turning class into DANCING WITH THE STARS. Maybe it is DANCING WITH THE OLDIES? I was tired!!!!!.

PANCAKES AGAIN

It must be Saturday again --Pancakes__ Love that habit. Truman finished two weeks of radiation!!! It is all going well. The cancer on the tip of his nose will all be gone in another month and he will still have his nose. Surgery would have taken the tip maybe. This seemed the best way to go. He must stay out of sun unless he is well covered. Not easy and still play golf. Hats and a nose mask help. It does not hurt and cause any side affects. Maybe deeper into the therapy it will get red and burn a little but all in all it is amazing what can be done. And as he said "I get free coffee and a cookie too." We know the places to go to get free coffee. He just told me he left cookie in the car and he also picked up an apple too and the Dr's office. He goes to the Hederman Cancer Center at the Baptist. It will still cost a lot above Insurance so he is getting all the "perks" along the way. He is a really amazing man!! Always finding ways to have fun. His personality keeps him a young 87 and he will be 88 September 13. I have to really work hard to keep up with him, but it is worth the ride.

BACK AGAIN

It has been a long time, but I am back. The BEACH WEEK took a lot of time to get ready, to go, and to recover. But it was worth it. I am sorry some could not make it but 17 did and I think that was super. So much laughter, conversation, play, and good food!!!!!! Hope to be able to do it again next year which will be our 25th year. That is a record I think. I do not know of another family who has had that much success. Who knows what next year will bring. Truman started his radiation therapy Monday. It is going well but six weeks five days a week is a long time. It only takes about five minutes and no side affects so we are blessed there. SILVER SNEAKERS today-Lord help me not to mess up too much-or I will "get a little help" from my fellow who thinks I "have no rytham" I really don't but I hate for someone to point that fact out.

SUMMER THOUGHTS

I try to remember if I have ever been through a hotter summer. My childhood days were good memories. We did not have airconditioning. I played outside. I remember the sidewalks(we had them everywhere) were so cool to sit on and play. I loved paper dolls. I also loved dolls and had many. The trees were many and gave good shade. Koolaid was new and sooo good. I even remember the first Jello. Now that was a treat. I go way back and I should not stay there because it makes me sad and at the same time I am glad for all the wonderful things we have now that we did not have then. Some of the old stuff was good to remember. You know something good about summer? Tomatos. Red, ripe, cut not too thick and put on white bread with plenty of mayo and salt and pepper. MMMM good. Would like a sandwich right now. We are fighting the birds from our few little plants.. Guess they like them too.

Not as good as the Ellis Reunion but they all have something in common. Guess what? Good foor of course. I ran my blood sugar up but that chocolate pie was delish!!/ Like I used to make. Good weekend (according to my standards) Grocery store Friday-nothing special- Saturday I can not even remember. O yes High School Reunion for Truman. They call it the 1920-30-40-50 club. No more who graduated it the 20's still living. Truman was 39 and they were the oldest there. It was nicely done-food and decorations were good. Then that night we went to the Church for a fish fry to benefit the Choir. Went to visit Amy and Ed Sunday and had Sophie to program my new cell phone and Ed and Sophie tried to teach me how to use. I thought I got it but when I got home I tried and tried to use it but need another lesson or two. My how can I be so stupid?

GREAT SALAD

You may have heard of this one. It came from a Senior Health magazine we get from our insurance co, Baby spinich, toasted pecans, red onion rings, strawberries. A dressing made with lemon juice, olive oil, pepper, just one tsp. honey 1 tsp Dijon mustard. I forgot to buy feta cheese but it was good anyway. Truman saw it first and said it sounded good. I surprized him at lunch with it. We both enjoyed it. We are both going to get slim I hope. Baked catfish for supper. Come join us

SILVER SNEAKERS

My first session at Silver Sneakers exercise program. I actually feel good. I feel like I have moved every part of my body. 45 minutes of no nonsence exercise in a bigggg room at the Court House with mirrors all around. Oh no I thought. The instructer told us to look at her and nobody else. Thank goodness no one could stare at me while I learned how to use weights, roll that ball all over, and other things I wont tell here. I loved it and I think I will enjoy going. I know I need to. I came home and ate a healthy salad- so hooray for me.

GRADUATION DAY FOR BRYAN

It was a pleasure to see Bryan so honored. I have always told him that I am his #1 fan. Thank you Lord for letting me get at least a glimsp of what he can be. I have always prayed for that. I think Ashley should get applause too. What fun they will have going to live in Boston and seeing what else is in store for them. I love and respect all my grandchildren and am proud of them.

SATURDAY BLUEBERRY PANCAKES AGAIN

I hope we do not run out of blueberries in the freezer before we have new ones on our bushes. The Canada gesse came in with a big noise. I wonder why they do that. Splash and they are here and we know it. With the windows up you can hear all sorts of noises. I am sure (almost) that I saw the alagator yesterday. On the other side of the lake swimming fast and it could not have been
a turtle. Wow!!no swimming for me. There was very little chance of that anyway. I will keep you updated because if ther is one--stands to reason ther are two.

EARTH DAY---GO GREEN11111

An adventure said Amy. Off we went to Capitol Street. THE MISSISSIPPI chapter of AMERICAN SOCIETY of LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS of Mississippi State created a green space in front of their building (same place that Bryan goes to school.) They rented one parking space, put down grass sod. a lawn table with umbrella, two chairs, a live plant and two guys were relaxing. How clever to show you that you could create green space any place you choose. Of course they rented the space for one day and it is there no more. I thought it was fun. We then went to SAL AND MOOKIES. sat on the porch and had vegetarian pizza and salad. Mmmmmmm good. All inall it was a good day.

SUNSHINE ON MY SHOLDER

John Denver's songs "make me happy" I thought he had an unusual voice and his songs were good. Too bad we lost him. Sunday was off and on rain-we went to Sunday School and Church--then out to eat st ANTHONY Z's. Oyster poboy--not enough oysters and too much bread. But it was good. They laughed at Truman when we left the Church--we had three widows in the back seat and me in the front. He had all the women he could handel He is such a good guy and a gentelman.

SATURDAY

Saturday again? I don't know about you but time is flying. One good thing about Saturday--my sweetie makes blueberry pancakes for us. I am still counting out bluberries each Saturday from ones from the freezer. They came from our two blueberry bushes. They have bloomed a lot and have little new berries on them. Good crop if we can keep the birds from eating them. We have to get up early in the morning each day and pick ripe ones or we would just be feeding the birds. I did go to WalMart yesterday, but all I got was a sore back and tons of stuff which I had to first put it in the cart, then the car, out of car and in its place at home. I need a backrub. Maybe I will get that to.

THOUGHTS CREATE EMOTIONS

So think good things and you can have your emotions under control? I doubt it sometime. I am most of the time under control. What a beautiful day. Things will surely go right. I am going to Wal-Mart today- maybe I will find an adventure there. All you have to do is look around. We will see what comes my way.

REST AND BE RENEWED

And I need to be renewed. Saw Canada geese on the Lake yesterday. We have been seeing 3--now four. I think Junior finally go a mate because we saw 4. Mom and Day say at last. I have been on a whirlwind latley. You young would laugh because that is a way of life for you. That is a good thing. We were really pumped up about Truman's interview on WLBT Monday. Hope you see it on WLBT's web site. wlbt.com go to news scroll down to VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT and view his written and vidio interview. Pretty cool? Let us hear from that because they also sent us a copy to play on TV.
I am going to Brent"s Drugs and coffee shop for lunch today with Candy and Amy. Shall I have the egg-olive sandwich? I think so--will tell you about it tomorrow. SWEETLTLY BE BETTY BOOP

Please forgive me but I have been way too busy. I need to slow up and catch up. It has been a good week. Holy Week at church. Something every day and I did not want to miss any of it. Family here for lunch on Easter day was great. We missed a few members but we have been so blessed over the years to have had so many good times together with us all that I am not complaning at all. APRIL FOOL
THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT. Psalms 118: 24

The sun is going to shine all day (so the weather man said). We will see. Amy and I plan to do something today. One of the things is to finally buy the paint to paint the bed in the "girl" room. Brown Amy said I trust her. Under that bed is a lot of stuff. Pictures to hang, and my colection of paper doll. Shirley Temple and the Dione Quints. I do not know what else. Dust bunnies for sure. My granddaughters did not care a lot for paper dolls. They played with them to please me. I played with paper dolls till I was 14 years old. Those were in the olden days when things were simple. I loved to fashion clothes for them. Maybe I missed my calling.----Maybe not. I know you are all glued to the set to watch DANCING WITH THE STARS!!!!. O. K. I forgive you.

CHOCOLATE GOLF BALLS?

Yesterday I picked up at Nandy's Candy chocolate balls arranged on "grass" with golf tees in a clear bag. It is so cute. One of Trumans's golf buddies is having his 90th birthday. We are invited to his party Saturday . He still plays good golf at the CCC. The golf balls look so real and good enough to eat. No pun intended.

I hope that is the way to spell it. (I have a bad rep for spelling. I blame it on learning shorthand while in High School.) Nobody will accept that theory.

Lunch there yesterday with Amy, Ivy, and Sophie was so much fun. The food was so good. The company was great and I enjoyed it so much. I am so lucky that my girls still like me and want me to be with them from time to time. Spring is in the air. I am going to the nursery to buy some plants. Will tell you about it later. Maybe I will meet an old person with "A story to Tell". That seems to be par for the course for me. I like that.

He said did I know that Piggley-Wiggley Grocery store had canned green beans on sale? Two cans for a dollar!!!!!!. I said no I did not know that. He said he bought 3 cases. He also said he gave them away when he found someone who was hungry. How sweet. Then I saw him several times telling the same story. to other people Maybe I should feel sorry for him? Yes, from Spring to winter in just a few hours. Wow. After all it is March and that can be unpredictable. Blueberry pancakes for breakfast. LITTLE THINGS ARE IMPORTANT

I decided a long time ago that God created me to do "little things". Yesterday as I entered McDade's this pretty little white haired lady approched me as if she was waiting for me. She began to tell me she was in a lot of pain and was going in the hospital for help this morning. She told me all about what she thought caused it and why it happened. She talked non stop for a long time as I picked up tomatos and other stuff. I said very little--just listened. I thought she was very old. 78 and since I am 82 that seemed young . I kept moving on and told her I would be thinking of her this morning while she was in the hospital. I felt like I helped her because she finally moved on smiling. Little things mean a lot. Right?

You should have seen the Canada geese yesterday. I think they were courting!!

at least they were showing off. They were playing "Watch me skidd on the water" They looked like an airplane landing and trying to see how much splash they could make. SAD DAY

We sold the Motor Home. It really made Truman sad. He loved it and felt as if a part of him is gone. But we have many wonderful memories from over the years. It was getting too hard for us to do. A young couple bought it. They have two young kids. They will give it a good home. I divided up my flowers and now have vases all over the house. I love flowers and it was the first time flowers were put in my Church in my honor. I loved it. Later on the 'MIRROR CAPER'
