PRETTY PARTY

George Clooney and bride have nothing on us.  Our own beautiful bride and good looking groom really looked great yesterday.  The shower for them ant Pam O;keefe'shouse was fabulous .  That over 100 year house in Madison is something to see.  It was absolutely beautiful.  The good friends of Amy outdid themselves with beautiful food and drink.  Such nice gifts too just topped off a great time.  Just first of parties for them before the wedding.  And they are going to Italy too.   So there George Clooney, we can put on a party too.
So silly of me, but it is getting exciting around here.

So back to normal and taking care of a little business and Exercise Class, Choir practice, Church service and then dinner will fill this day.  So I am off to start the ball rolling.  Hope I can keep up.  I will be seen trying.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The title would suggest I have been busy and could not get to you every day.  Not so.  Just lazy I guess and I am the worst at putting off what I want and need to do.  I like blogging because I can picture you looking every day to read what I am up to.  I guess that is all right to picture that even though I know it can't be true.  We had a Fashion and Style Show on Friday.  Modeled by some of our more elegant residents. (of which I am not a member.)  STEIN MART of Madison presented their latest fashions.  Lordy, nothing casual enough for me.  Most of the models were tall and slim and looked like the real thing!!  They did a beautiful job and we all enjoyed it very much.  Also that evening we had A NIGHT IN PARIS in the dinning room.  Very elegant French food and a beautifully decorated dinning room.  Black table linens and candles.  Sounds like I enjoyed it?--no I did not even go.  I picked up my dinner (not the French ) and ate in my apartment.  O well, that's O. K.  I just did not want to go.

I am going to a brides  shower this afternoon.  My sweet granddaughter is getting married.  Just in case you have not heard.  I know she and Ryan will have fun and we will be happy to watch.  Looking forward to seeing Pam's beautiful house again and how nice of Amy's friends to do this for the happy couple.  Well off to Church first.  Should be a great day.

TOO MUCH

I really have to smile when I write my blog.  So different from all of my readers.  Yesterday was just about too much,  Amy was my Angel for the day.  With all the Wedding plans going on, I was blessed that she could take me yesterday on an almost all day affair.  We started with the dentist and took an hour just to clean my teeth.  She did a good thorough job  .  I go twice a year but I am not good at flossing.  Next we went to the Highway Patrol.  No not for speeding thank goodness, although I was afraid to go because my drivers license expired in January.  I did not know they stopped sending notices and just did not notice,  Here I am driving around --  87--with an expired one.  It is a wonder I got away with that one.  I worried about it till I got there and I had no problem.  I guess it happens to many because with a very small  fee, I got a new picture and it looks terrible (just like me) and I am good to go till 2018.  That is the least length I could get it. I figure any longer would be danger to the population. O. K. got that done.  We enjoyed the Piccidilly so much last week till we did it again.  Were not disappointed.  It was good.  Then we went to shop for the bridesmaid luncheon for ideas for arrangements for the table, which I am doing,  I just needed approval from the pro.  Lucky me, she liked my ideas.  By then I was so tired, we went home.  With a little nap (one hour) I then went to Wal-Mart.  Big mistake.  I just did make it home.  I had to sit in the chair a while before I could unload my stuff.  I had a meeting at 6:00, but I just could not make it.  I will try not to do that much again in a day.  Getting too old I guess.  Could that be?  Sounds like a poem or essay in there for St. Catherine's.  They would understand.

P. S, I did revive enough last night to make a  treat for my Coffee Club. I just love those complements!!!

FAVORITE STORE

After having a great turkey burger with Jan on the Terrace of St. Catherine, we visited for a while then went to one of my favorite stores.  THE DOLLAR TREE.!!!  I do love the prices.  Not only that, you can find almost  anything you want or need.  I love that the stuff changes with the season.  Of course you can already buy Thanksgiving but Christmas.  They don't even bother putting up one before we  see the next one coming.  Amazing.  Halloween was on our list.  I got out of there for under $6.00 and even had dish washing stuff.  What fun.  Oh well as I always say "Doesn't take a lot to make me happy."  And the little things mean a lot.  But most of all, I was with my sweet and faithful daughter--Jan.  Thank you Lord for her.  The rest of the day was uneventful.  I finished putting my poems in a notebook.  I found  one I had misplaced  and had forgotten and was glad because it was one for Ashley.  If someday , anyone wants to view my poem book, you are welcome.  I just do not feel as creative now as I did when I was writing for my grandchildren.  Maybe I need to look for another outlet??  Who knows --there may be a block there.  Well on to get ready for Church and whatever is in store for me today.

GREAT DAY

It usually is good with one of my daughters.  Amy learned all she could about diabetic shoes.  It was good to go and get fitted for shoes.  Maybe it will prevent trouble ahead to wear the proper shoes.  That is the Doctors prediction.  The man was very smart  and full of good info.  Hope I will like them. We were in the "neighborhood" so we ate lunch at Picadilly (sp)  My, my, it was good.  They know how to cook veggies.  We were so busy scarfing it up that I don't think Amy took a picture. We then went to Bed Bath and Beyond.  Jan had given me coupons I bought new bath mats( much needed).  Looks so good and was pleased to just throw away old ones.  We then went to Belk and I bought M. G. & Patrick a gift for the shower coming up. Now that is a full morning for me.  But I enjoyed shopping like I used to and to have a personal driver and advisor was all I could ask for.  Thank you dear daughter.  I have the best three in the world.  Although we were close, we did not ride by Riverwood Dr.  I think it is time to stop that and move on.  After all, I still have almost a life time of memories.  Just saying!!!

SLOW DAY

Needed it. (slow day).  Shampoo, changed bed lines, did my laundry too. . Cooked all my meals today.  Worked on my poem book.  I am arranging all the poems I have written in one notebook.  I am amazed at how many I have written over the years.  My neighbor , Mary, gave me a perfect tomato.  Her son has a garden.  I had the most wonderful sandwich at lunch.  Just mayo  and salt and pepper.  MMMMM Good.  I ate the rest tonight just cut up and salted.  Along with left over pot roast and a fresh ear of corn.  Hope my blood sugar does not go up from that sweet corn.  It was so good.  Well they voted off the Dancing With The Stars girl I wanted them to.   She had a bad attitude .  Now I will read a little and hope for a good nights rest.   I get very few of those.  I guess it goes with the territory.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Just like two for one?  Jan came Saturday.  We decided to go out from St.Catherine's to eat lunch.  We went to McAlister's.  Sat outside to eat and thought we would freeze.  The cool was very welcomed but we got cold.  Did a little shopping and then home.  Today Sunday, went to Church.  Can't seem to connect with our new preacher.  She is so different from  Rob and I guess I considered him a friend.  I miss him a lot.  We had lunch at Strawberry Patch here in Madison.  It was very good and we did sit outside and got hot.  Mississippi weather is hard to understand.     My well is running dry in the creative department.  I am thinking of stopping the writing for the paper for a while.  Don't know what is wrong bit I can't get anything going.  Need a vacation from the pressure I guess.

Miss America Contest tonight.  I think I will watch it.

DOUBLE BEAUTY

Bet I had something rare this morning.  A DOUBLE YOLK EGG!!!All from the FARMS of McNIEL & PATRICK.  Oh I just had to smile when I broke it in the skillet fro an egg-over-light.  So good.  I am still amazed at those chickens.  Good way to start a gloomy looking day.  Looks like rain but they say a cold front is passing ever bringing 80's instead of upper 90's.  Well Fall is on the way and I am glad as I love this time of year.  I am also tired of these limp and tired old summer clothes.

I got a haircut yesterday ands as usual, I colored it and now I am again "that little dark haired cutie."  A phrase from the past.  At 87 I still prefer dark to grey.  Well, Exercise class is this morning.  I never miss.  I am afraid to not go for fear I will not be able to hang on.  Plus I love the group......  I am taking Banana Bread.  They will love that.

P. S,

I meant to say this and signed off too soon.  These are words that I live by:  "Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you." Ephesians 4, 5.

RIGHT OFF THE FARM

Yes that delicious soft boiled beautiful "blue shell" egg was straight from the nest.!! Poultry farmers M. G and Ryan came to visit yesterday and brought me an array of beautiful colored eggs from their own back yard.  One promises to have double yolks.  I cooked one this morning for breakfast and it was so fresh and good.  I told them I might go up and down the Halls and brag a little.  They had lunch with me and I enjoyed them both very much.  I know they have plenty on their plate now with school and work for her and some real hard work for him .  Making tables for his shop and of course "the wedding."  It was thoughtful of them to take time for me.

Writers class meets this afternoon and I am still trying to write an essay on Clouds.  I already have a poem about hummingbirds to go.  I must do an interview also.  So my life goes on.  So different from what I would have planned.  But thankfully it is not all up to me.  Right?

GOOD NEIGHBORS

As I was leaving Exercise class yesterday, Nora waved me into her apartment (one to die for).  She had made stuffed squash.  Enough for an army, and offered me a serving.  I went for it.  And when I got to my front door, I had another surprise,  My sweet neighbor down the hall, Mary Louise, had left another treat.  Her broccoli salad looked delish!  I said LUNCH !!.  I teamed it with sliced tomato and had a feast.  While I was eating, I thought of those nice ladies and how blessed  I am to know them and so many more just like them.  You know, I thought, life is just too short for things like holding grudges, judging others, not being friendly, and a whole list of negative things, not to take advantage of the many ways we can enjoy life and love one another.  O. K. ====preaching again.  Sorry, it is just the way I am feeling this morning.

BIG BIRTHDAY BASH

I wish I could take pictures and send them out to all.  Brody was perfect at his first birthday party.  He was such a little gentleman and took it all in his stride.  Imagine 16 big people standing watching (some you do not often see) you struggle with ribbons and paper to find such wonderful toys and books and clothes!!Never a minute to pause and examine something new before another package is there to rip open.  He commented on every one in his own language.  He received several toys to make music.  What fun.  Lunch was great thanks to mommy and others.  Oh  he did not cry as we sang Happy Birthday although like every time it sounds sad.  He loved the balloons and the candle to blow out.  I would say, he had a great birthday.  His grandparents loved it too.

As always it was fun to have our great families laughing and enjoying each other.  We are truly blessed to "love each other."

Life is good. SO BE IT

BREAK A LEG

That is what our assistant director told us as we headed for the stage last night. It went well and we had a big and good crowd.  I really do like the excitement and fun of being on that very small stage and try to make people laugh.  And we did succeed. We had a cast party afterwards and champagne punch and very nice "nibbles".  I think I need champagne every night because I slept better than I have been sleeping.  Maybe a job well done and it is behind us that did it.  Now we are going to Manhattan Nursing Home to sing on Friday.  The Choir is going on the bus.  Should be fun too.  I went to the dermatologist this morning for a follow up and he zapped a mole and then my ear where it had come back.  Lordy why do things like to grow on old bodies?  Too much sun in my youth so he said.  Friday is Brody"s 1st birthday and party.  I sound like Whitney with so much to do.  No wonder the time seems to fly.

"HAS HE GONE HOME?"

Has he gone home is the title of our Punch Line Theater's latest performance.  I had fun as a visitor to the funeral of Mayor Rufus Penergrass's untimely death.  Many mourned and I was one of them.  Dressed like country going to town.  Talk about amateur!!!But we had fun with plenty laughs.  We had a Matinee this afternoon and a night performance is set for tomorrow night.  It went well.  Irene and Ruby were both brought to see  it and I am not sure how much they either one understood but at least they were able to come and to sit in real chairs--using wheel chairs to travel over.  Thanks to K. the activity director in Siena.  She is so sweet and good at her job

We just had a big thunder storm and I waited till it was over because of so much lightning.  I am afraid to use the computer or phone during storms.  . Well off to TV and to read before bed time.
