 WELL THE DECORATIONS ARE DOWN AND i AM TIRED. WHY, OH, WHY, DID I PULL OUT SO MUCH? I DID NOT THINK I PUT SO MUCH UP. BUT LITTLE BY LITTEL OUT IT CAME. AND NOW I MUST PUT IT AWAY FOR NEXT TIME. I LOVE MY OLD THINGS AND NOBODY BUT ME CAN APPRECIATE THEM BUT ME. YOU HAVE SOME OLD FAVORITES TOO I BET. I ALWAYS SAY I WILL TAKE A FEW DOWN AND DO MORE ANOTHER DAY. BUT BEFORE I KNOW IT---I CAN'T FIND A STOPPING PLACE. IT IS ALL DOWN NOW AND I AM TIRED, BECAUSE NEW THINGS HAD TO TAKE ITS PLACE. SINCE I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HALL TABLE, I JUST TOOK THE STUFF DOWN AT MY ENTRANCE DOOR AND JUST TOOK ALL MY ENERGY. I WILL HAVE TI DRUM UP SOME MORE BY RESTING A WHILE. AMY CAME THIS MORNING AND FILLED MY PILL BOX. SURE DOES HELP TO BE SURE IT IS FILLED RIGHT., SINCE I RUN A SMALL DRUG OPERATION RIGHT HERE. PUN INTENDED.

32 IS COLD, BUT SUN WILL HELP.

 Sun is shinning and the birds are eating a lot. I keep seeing small birds that I am not sure what they are. I don't have a bird book anymore. But what difference does it make if I can't identify them? Not any difference at all. Just feed them and enjoy.

I made a small pot of veggie soup yesterday. Boy, I forgot what a deal it is. So much clean up and I was tired when I finished. I just sat down and had a small cup. Pretty good. I did put in a little left over chicken that I saved for that purpose. Bits of veggies were saved and frozen for the soup. Many cooks over the years have made this kind of soup. Out of need to use everything and don't throw away a thing. My Mothers managed to taste the same over and over. Even when  had different things in it every time, it still came together the same. Magic. I will freeze it by the cups.. Be good when I need it.

Another winner

 YES IT WAS A WINNER. IT IS DEPOSITED INTO THE MEMORY BANK. SAFE FOR ANY DAY I WANT TO FEEL GOOD. WE HAD THE BEST FOOD EVER. COOKS WERE AT THEIR BEST AND EVERYONE ENJOYED. I HELD UP PRETTY GOOD AND REALLY DID ENJOY EVERYTHING. I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY OF ALL. I ENJOYED A RERUN OF XMAS DINNER YESTERDAY AND IT WAS JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME AROUND.  NOW I MUST TONE IT DOWN AND GET BACK IN THE TRACES, BUT IT WAS WONDERFUL. THE BEST OF ALL WAS TO HEAR EVERYONE TALKING. CONLD'T KEEP UP WITH IT ALL, BUT I DID A GOOD JOB OF TAKING MOST OF IT IN. LETS DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME.

AS THE WORLD TURNS

The world turns as we ignore all the worries it is in. We gather together and enjoy the experiences we have had these few days. Hey it is not over. Leo is coming to visit and bringing his Dad and anyone else he can. Surprises in store.  Amy picked a book from me, I know he will like it. Maybe we will read it together. Also he is "into" snakes. Imagine. We bought him one. Not real of course. Will be a good morning. He is such a joy. 

The season is winding down and a new one is coming. What things will happen? I do not know, but I am ready to see.

GREAT DAY

 Well, HO,HO, HO,--MERRY CHRISTMAS. If today is as good as yesterday, then it will be wonderful. We did enjoy my side of the family yesterday. All beautiful people and don't get together often. A good and lovely brunch was enjoyed as well as the many conversations. One niece is having first baby. One has a new boyfriend, another is newly engaged. Time marches on. Today a traditional Christmas feast is planned at #2 daughters home. All bring something good to eat and fun to share. Truman would have loved it all. I miss him so much at special times. What is your favorite holiday food? Hard to pick?  I guess mine is the old fashioned way of dressing. The way my Mama made it. The gravy is important too. She never made Pumpkin pie, but I have learned to like it too. Hey, the list goes on. And so do we.

NIT-PICKING AGAIN

I said to myself this morning as I was fooling around---you are nitpicking again. It came to me, that I say that a lot and sort of know what it means, but what is it's origin?  Of course it bothered me till I asked my friend Mr. Google. It started in the 1950s. A person who is obsessed with what they are doing and jumps from one thing to another. Sound like you? Or Me. Also it was a common thing during the l950"s head lice. Kids were searched for them in their hair. How invasive. Can't remember anything about that ? Oh well, So Be It. I do NITPICK but not for nits.

DIVING DUCKS

Truman called them (I am guessing at this) Diadapple or was it dive dapple? Don't think it was it's name. But a big group just passed me while I was looking at the Lake. In the middle of about 20 or more was a big duck 4 times as big as the rest. I gasped and it fell apart into 3 ducks. Now I had a story ready about the duck who went on the  Atkins diet to get back into the graces of his piers. Oh well something else. I found a few dried up raisins in a box in my purse. I put them on the rail of the Balcony and am watching . Think they will eat them?  Another story.

CHRISTMAS IS A-COMMING

 Ready or not. Actually, I am relieved to just be ready. Without all the rushing and preps. there are many. Except the flu and other stuff are hiding in the wings of our usual festivities. Oh, how I pray for it all. It is hard to just be still and know who is really in charge. Looking forward for the best, for all. When I remember all the shopping and parties to go too. I used to buy one outfits and wear it to all events. Usually the same people would not be there at all of them. But if it was a nice outfit. who cares?  I remember one special outfit I bought.  It was a pink dressy suit Shiny and made of something crisp. Oh boy. did I think it was something. High heels of course. Feet hurt the whole time. Women do punish themselves in the name if FASHION.

COLD BUT SUNSHINE

 Red for Christmas. So is green. And any color you want. I think about Christmas morning and yes, I still remember the thrill of coming in and finding my wishes come true. The one I remember getting excited about was a Mickey Mouse watch. His little gloved hands would tell you the time. It was real. And to think old Santa would not find me at my Grandmother Brown"s house away up in the country near Durant Mississippi. But he did !!!!  Magic for sure. Dolls were the next thing I remember. They had such a sweet smell, the rubber one. I am not sure they still use real rubber for dolls. But you could give the baby dolls a bath. I loved that. And to powder a baby doll with sweet smelling powder made it "real". Enough of Memory Babnk. Let me try to close this down.

 The the Christmas program at Broadmeadow was the best ever. Wells Memorial Methodist Choir joined ours. Our director led a Choir loft so full, they had to add extra seats. My, My, what a sound that made. Good many people to listen to such a beautiful blend of voices. I was lifted to a great place as I listened. So now I am ready for family at Christmas. Great plans have been made. I hope for feeling good and to enjoy it all. It can get exciting. 

I saw Mrs. Card. this morning. t least I think she is his wife. Never together. They are such beautiful birds. They like the new blend of food we bought. They seem like treats to me. Speaking of treats---my breakfast was that. Dinning room biscuits are so good split and toasted. A little more trouble to scramble an egg than my fancy methods, but it was worth it. (add a little milk and beat well before you cook it soft.) There I shared my SECRETOrBUT

OLD MEMORIES

 When I went to  GEORGE  ELEMENTRY SCHOOL (1-6 grades), It was a thrill to just mention riding in cars and going to the big buildings in downtown Jackson. I think it was a group from the 6th grades who were invited. My friend Lois and I were among the elite few. We were excited and scared to death. Just the ride on an elevator to the top of  the tallest building we had then, and to see how they broadcast to radio. All dressed and knees scrubbed and faces looking wondering at all the new s SAW  tuff,  We sang I SAW THREE SHIPS A SAILING BY. Remember that one. It was among the ones you always taught young kids to sing. Guess it was a favorite. I thought 9f it this morning and the memory. I ask Mr, Google about it. I often as a kid wondered what th0se ships had to do with Christmas. Read it and the may guesses there are. I

GETTING IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT ?

 Yes. Everyone around here is laughing, speaking, giving and seem HAPPY. So I am hanging on too. I have almost delivered 30 packs of beautiful Trail Mix. made by #3. So good of her to make it for me. I have 5 more to deliver this morning. Not my usual little "happies" that I have made over the years I have lived here. But you know the story and why-no more. But I enjoyed making so many over the years. Amy's mix is a hit. Best ever they say. I agree. 

So, my advice is---If the HAPPY TRAIN stops at your station---Hop on. and  take a ride.

BIG LET DOWN

 Can't stay up there forever. My let down includes getting my regular Diabetic toenail trim. Must be done to prevent future trouble . So Be  It.  Mother would be happy for me to just sing whatever I could. Me too. 

My lift up is to be with daughter # 2. She always lifts me up. So with that little short lift you up, I will bid you farewell till next time.

Still in recovery

 I mean getting calmed down from the experience I had in the Choir program. It was almost too much for me. I was tired yesterday and spent it doing mundane things. Like laundry. Has to be done and I own so many pairs of socks. Day time and bed time and leisure socks. I had run out almost and had to wash. Had to wait my turn because others had the same idea. So it took  almost all day to get it all done. Well the wicker laundry basket is still waiting for it's contents to be sorted and put away. SO BE IT.

O HAPPY DAY

 Best day in a long time. 7 of my local family came to our Christmas Choir. I was almost bursting with pride and joy. I sang my heart out for them. How excited I was. We did a very interesting program. Although a big part of our members were new, they got with it as the rest of "oldies" welcomed them. Our program was unique as it started with old favorites of our members all through the years and went on to some new ones and finally much loved Christmas songs and solos and duets from favorite members. An hour packed with fun and remembering. It did me so much good, although I was completely wiped out. MG brought the most beautiful white roses to me. So sweet she is. She gave a friend one from the dozen. She always admires my family. How sweet it was. If I never get to sing again. I will always remember the happy time. Thank you again sweet and thoughtful family. You mean so much to me.

THE DAY HAS ARRIVED

 The day of our Choir program.  Got my black pants ready, white shirt, a touch of red for around my neck and my voice kind of working. I will try. 

 And don't be shy to ask for help to get on and off stage. That is one of my problems. It is part being sorry to have to ask for help. But we have such helpful and nice people and I am sure I would do the same for anyone else. Forget all that and try to sing my strongest and best. Like the little Drummer Boy and his drum. 

It is 31 degrees and sunny. Funny how we are enjoying so many kinds of weather. 

I took down a Christmas mug for coffee. Well the first one, I dropped and it broke. Now I am down to 3. Hope I make it through Xmas with a Christmas mug to cheer me up. I used to have many of them, Over the years I have given some away or broke a few. This one is the Jolly old man decorating a tree.

WEATHER IS O. K.

 Will not dwell on weather. It is  good.  But why do Dr's have to always say., Well, remember you are "96".  I got the eye Dr. back yesterday, when I answered: But I will be 97 next month!!!  He smiled and I am sure he thought I would make it, but was afraid to say it. But back to my apartment and fixed a beautiful lunch from the fridge. I am holding my own with the eyes. No change is good for me. Thank you Lord and my very kind and smart Dr. Enough of that subject. 

Birds are happy with new food, but I have attracted a new fellow. Some kind of a dove. Really too big for my small feeder. But the others are approaching with caution. Waiting their turn. Fun to watch and knowing I have to let them work it out.

Jan took me to Dr. yesterday. It was lunch time when we finished. My eyes were dilated and I did not want to go out. We came back here to apartment and found  bits of  treasures in the freezer and fridge. Just like Mamma used to keep. She always had a piece of bacon or sausage plus a bit of toast in a little dish she kept on the stove. I have eaten many snacks like that.

 Off to the Doctor today.  Eyes are important. I have said it many times and thanked God for mine. Now today I still thank him for what I have left. One good one I hope. I have an issue to discuss and hope it comes out o. k. We will see and go with what happens. 

Hey what nice weather today. You never know what you will get from that department. Again we will go with what happens. My birds will have a new food tomorrow after they eat the last kind.  Hope to draw some more kinds, Maybe some colorful ones too.

MY SOURCE SAID 37 DEGREES

 But, I am unreliable. Don't bet on me. The sun is shinning and the birds are eating to brace the cold. Such a beautiful day. Choir practice went well, it was the last one before the Big Show next week. We are ready. Can't get the songs out of my mind.. Guess that is good. Wear your black pants and something Red on top. Now that sounds like a disaster, but we will be beautiful The men will wear a red bow tie, if they can locate one. Just listening to the conversations about the dress code and you wonder what you will see on the big day. But believe me, it turns out just right, Just sing Ladies and Gents and it does not really matter what you wear. Two years ago when we last sang at Christmas, THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY was dropped from the program. Can't remember the reason. I was devastated. My all time favorite has been added this year.  If I could find a drum, I could play it. But can't you just see that little boy and his drum playing his best?

MONDAY, BUT WHICH MONTH???

 It is a puzzle. I know we have had strange weather before. Trouble changing seasons, but this one has been very strange. Never know what to wear. Will I get hot or cold?  I ponder. I went to Broadmeadow, my church in Jackson, yesterday. I had so much trouble finding my place in the program. It all seemed to go too fast and I got confused and lost my confidence. And low and behold it was Communion Sunday and I had to walk with Amy's help. Very upsetting. I was troubled the rest of the day. What is happening to me?  Amy said you are 96 six Mom. Well I will soon be 97, will change for the better then?  We should hope so. Sorry to be so depressing, but that is the way it is. Blog's should not be this serious, but funny.

EASY WAY OUT

 Saturday is a stand out special day. time to cook a real breakfast. Maybe pancakes, or special egg dish. Time to prepare grapefruit.?  I did not have an excuse, but I fixed a Speedy breakfast as I used to do when I worked (gainfully) employed.  I had the O.J., no trouble there. and coffee (of course. But I did poach an egg, still easy and not much clean up. A bowl of Total dry cereal with a banana. In and out fast and good. I still will in the future have my lovely planned breakfast, for I love breakfast. Now I have the time and  energy to do it. A little sit on my Balcony topped my morning so far. What next ?  Wait and see.
